
Accordingly, the Department of Traditional Medicine Management has decided to order the mandatory recall nationwide of the batch of processed red Polygonum multiflorum traditional medicine produced by Vietnam Medicinal Materials Joint Stock Company (Zone 8, Phu Ninh Commune, Phu Tho Province).
The batch of medicine with registration number VCT-00013-20, batch number 1020525, manufacturing date 5/5/2025, expiry date 5/5/2027, was sampled at the Pharmacy Department - Phuc Tho District General Hospital ( Hanoi ) and was found to have a level 2 quality violation in the quantitative analysis of combined anthraquinone.
The Lam Dong Provincial Department of Health has requested all businesses dealing in medicinal herbs and medical facilities in the province to immediately cease trading, selling, and using the aforementioned batch of processed red Polygonum multiflorum (Ha Thu O) that violates quality standards.
Facilities must isolate remaining drug stockpiles, compile a list of units and individuals who purchased the drugs (if any), receive recalled products and return them to the supplier, and report the recall results to the Department of Health before October 10, 2025.
The Lam Dong Provincial Center for Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Testing is strengthening its monitoring of medicinal herb quality, collecting samples for testing throughout the province, especially for medicinal herbs that violate quality standards.
The Culture and Social Affairs Departments at the ward, commune, and special zone levels, in coordination with relevant agencies, will intensify inspections and supervision of businesses dealing in medicinal herbs and traditional medicine clinics and hospitals, and strictly handle cases of violations.
The Inspection and Legal Affairs Department will continue to coordinate with relevant units to strengthen inspection and handling of violations within its authority.
