The world's best tourist village has hundreds of stilt houses with yin-yang tiled roofs, all facing in the same direction.

In Lang Son province, there is a unique village where hundreds of stilt houses with yin-yang tiled roofs all face in the same direction. This is Quynh Son village, which has been honored as the World's Best Tourist Village 2025.

Along with Lo Lo Chai, the Quynh Son community tourism village has been named the World's Best Tourist Village 2025 by the World Tourism Organization. While Lo Lo Chai is already well-known to many tourists, Quynh Son remains a mystery, a place where the Tay people have lived together for generations.

Quynh Son village is nestled in the Bac Son valley, at an altitude of over 600m, surrounded by rolling mountains and lush rice fields. The area is impressive for its poetic and romantic scenery. Especially in autumn, the vast fields turn a golden yellow, creating an even more enchanting atmosphere.

The village has nearly 450 wooden stilt houses with ancient yin-yang tiled roofs. Many of these houses are nearly a hundred years old, reflecting the unique culture of the Tay people.

Viewed from above, the houses are nestled close together against the mountain, with their doors facing south. According to folk beliefs, this is an auspicious direction, bringing coolness, peace, and prosperity.

Since 2010, Quynh Son has gradually transformed as community-based tourism has come to the villages. The entire village is cleaner and more beautiful, and the buffaloes and chickens that used to be raised under the houses have now been moved away from the houses.

The best time to visit Quynh Son is from July to October each year. This is also when the entire Bac Son valley is covered in the golden hues of ripening rice, adding beauty to the Quynh Son village nestled far away in the mountains.

When visiting Quynh Son, in addition to exploring the traditional culture of the local people, tourists can choose to visit Quynh Son communal house, Ra Rieng bridge - a place that marks the Bac Son uprising of 1940…

In October 2025, Quynh Son was honored as the best tourist village in the world – a clear testament to the preservation of local culture and the development of sustainable, community-based tourism and services.

To date, Vietnam has five tourism villages recognized by UN Tourism as "Best Tourism Villages," including Tan Hoa village (Quang Tri), Thai Hai village (Thai Nguyen), Tra Que vegetable village (Da Nang), Lo Lo Chai village (Tuyen Quang), and Quynh Son community tourism village (Lang Son).
