Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced 3 admission methods in 2026

TPO - Hanoi University of Science and Technology will recruit 9,880 students with 3 methods: Talent selection, thinking assessment test scores and high school graduation exam scores. The new point this year is that this unit limits the academic transcript scores to recruit talents.

In which, talent selection includes the following methods: Direct selection of excellent students; international certificates; review of capacity profile combined with interview.

The group of students directly admitted to excellent students includes those who are called to participate in the national team selection exam for international and regional Olympic competitions, or who won first, second, or third prizes in the national excellent student selection exam in cultural subjects and are directly admitted to the majors suitable for the subjects they won the prize.

Every year, the Thinking Assessment Test of Hanoi University of Science and Technology attracts many candidates to participate.

Candidates in the national team participating in the International Science and Technology Competition or winning First, Second, or Third prizes in the national competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training .

Groups considered by international certificates such as: SAT, ACT, A-Level, AP, IB. For international certificates, subject component scores are evaluated by letter system.

The conversion table to points is as follows:

The group based on the combined interview and competency profile is calculated by the formula:

HSNL points = Thinking points + Achievement points + Bonus points.

Maximum thinking score is 40, maximum achievement score is 50 and maximum bonus score is 10.

Thus, the scoring formula for candidates registering for the exam based on their competency profile combined with an interview this year has changed, that is, the academic transcript score is replaced by a thinking score.

With the admission method based on the Thinking Assessment (TSA) test score, candidates will have to take the exam organized by Hanoi University of Science and Technology. The test format is objective multiple choice on computer.

There will be 3 rounds of exams scheduled to be held in 11 provinces/cities including Hanoi, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Da Nang on the following dates:

Phase 1: Exam date 24-25/01/2026; Registration date 05-15/12/2025.

Phase 2: Exam date 14-15/03/2026; Registration date 05-15/02/2026.

Phase 3: Exam date 16-17/05/2026; Registration date 05-15/04/2026.

Admission method based on high school graduation exam scores, Hanoi University of Science and Technology still maintains 11 admission combinations and main subjects according to previous years including: A00, A01, A02, B00, D01, D04, D07, D26, D28, D29 and K01.

Candidates with VSTEP English certificate or international English certificate can convert into English subject score when considering admission based on high school graduation exam score (combination A01, D01, D04, D07) and add bonus points when considering admission.
