Ho Dac Thanh Chuong, from a contestant who participated and became the champion of the 16th Road to Olympia, is currently working at Google Sydney (Australia).

After winning Olympia, Ho Dac Thanh Chuong studied and graduated from Swinburne University, Australia in 2022. From 2023 to present, he has worked at Google Sydney (Australia).

At the program, Ho Dac Thanh Chuong shared: “National and international competitions for excellent students in high school often aim for depth. That is, studying a certain subject and 'digging deep'. The Road to Olympia is a very different playground, requiring breadth. When working in a large company, at low levels, depth is needed, but the higher the level, the more breadth is needed. Breadth here is knowledge, broad understanding and also the spirit of the Road to Olympia.

I am working at Google, in a group where I want to succeed, it requires a lot of support and each individual in the group needs to know how to cooperate with each other to optimize the resources and experience of each individual. Competition, if any, the question is whether today is better than yesterday and how to be better tomorrow than today.

Phan Manh Tan, the champion of the second Road to Olympia, is currently the chief solution architect for digital experience in the Asia- Pacific region of HCL Software.

Winning the championship of the second year of Road to Olympia also opened up the opportunity for Phan Manh Tan (former student of Ha Tinh Gifted High School, Ha Tinh) to study abroad.

After graduating with a degree in Computer Science and completing his PhD in Information Technology, Phan Manh Tan was recruited by IBM, a multinational computer technology corporation headquartered in the US, immediately after graduation. Currently, Mr. Tan is the Chief Solution Architect for Digital Experience in the Asia-Pacific region of HCL Software.

“Olympia has completely changed my life, giving me the opportunity to go abroad and study my favorite subject, and increase my relationships. It is really a great opportunity for a guy from the countryside like me,” Tan shared.

Mr. Tan said that, in addition to knowledge, the skills he gained from the Olympia playground are still very suitable and useful for his current life and work. Especially the ability to make decisions at work. “Sometimes there are projects where I only have a few minutes to implement decisions that affect millions of users. Many times I do not have enough information to make decisions, so I have to rely heavily on my own analysis and intuition. I have been practicing those skills since participating in Olympia,” Mr. Tan shared.

The former Olympia champion added: “Everything changes so quickly these days, what you learned yesterday may no longer be important tomorrow. With the rapid development of technology, the most important ability today is the ability to learn new things and adapt to new trends.”
