Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a telephone conversation with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim this afternoon.
The two Prime Ministers expressed pleasure at the positive developments in the Vietnam-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in recent times and agreed to officially adopt an action program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the period 2026-2030, aiming to set specific directions for each pillar sector.

The two countries are striving to bring bilateral trade to $20 billion as soon as possible, in a more balanced manner.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that the two sides continue to strengthen cooperation in the fields of rice trade, sea and ocean affairs, prioritizing cooperation in oil and gas between Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group and Malaysia's Petronas Group, joint fishing cooperation, and combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Discussing regional and international issues of mutual concern, the two Prime Ministers expressed deep concern about the recent tensions between Cambodia and Thailand. Both Prime Ministers hoped that all parties would exercise restraint, refrain from the use of force, engage in dialogue, and resolve the issues peacefully .
The leaders of the two countries agreed to closely coordinate with other ASEAN countries to strengthen solidarity, maintain ASEAN's central role, and promote ASEAN mechanisms to foster dialogue, contributing to the maintenance of peace, stability, and cooperation in the region.
Earlier this afternoon, Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung had a telephone conversation with Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato' Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan.
The two ministers expressed their pleasure at the particularly significant progress in bilateral relations between the two countries in recent times, as well as the excellent cooperation between the two countries' Ministries of Foreign Affairs in particular.

The two Ministers agreed to continue coordinating to further promote the Vietnam-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and to soon hold the 8th Joint Committee meeting to officially adopt the action program for implementing the Vietnam-Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the period 2026-2030.
Both sides emphasized economic cooperation, striving to soon achieve a bilateral trade turnover of 20 billion USD in a more balanced manner, promoting cooperation in fisheries, and promptly signing a new memorandum of understanding on cooperation in agriculture, fisheries, and food security.
The Malaysian Foreign Minister affirmed that Malaysia will continue to support Vietnam in developing the Halal sector and combating illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung congratulated Malaysia on successfully completing its role as ASEAN Chair in 2025, with the successful implementation of many new initiatives and the promotion of solutions to regional issues.
The two sides exchanged views on a number of recent regional and international developments, particularly expressing deep concern over the escalating tensions between Cambodia and Thailand. The two ministers agreed to continue coordinating with ASEAN member states to maintain internal solidarity, promote ASEAN's central role and mechanisms to encourage both sides to exercise restraint, refrain from the use of force, engage in dialogue, and resolve issues peacefully, contributing to the maintenance of a peaceful, stable, secure, and prosperous environment in the region and the world.
