The biggest difficulty that repatriated workers face is finding a job that matches their abilities, expectations, and the income they are used to when working in an international environment. After many years of working abroad, especially in high-income markets such as Japan, Korea, etc., most workers have formed a habit of good salaries and benefits. When returning home, despite having foreign languages and experience, they are often only recruited as workers, with salaries ranging from 9 to 12 million VND/month, much lower than their previous income. This gap causes many workers to fall into a state of disappointment. Many people, after several months of looking for a job but not meeting their expectations, have considered re-registering to work abroad.

Provincial employment service center strengthens connection, consultation and job introduction for workers
Returning home after 3 years of working abroad in Japan, Mr. Le Xuan Luong, Tam Son commune, wanted to find a job in the country to be closer to his family. However, with 3 years of experience working abroad and quite good foreign language skills, he has not found a satisfactory job for many months. Mr. Luong shared: Working in Japan, after deducting expenses, I can send home 25-30 million VND per month to my family. However, when I returned home to work, despite my foreign language skills and skills, I was only recruited as a worker with a salary of about 10 million VND/month. Maybe I will continue to register to work in Japan in the near future.
Recognizing the problem, in recent years, Phu Tho province has implemented many solutions to support workers returning home after being exported to find jobs, stabilize their lives and promote their strengths. The Provincial Employment Service Center plays a key role in guiding, connecting and accompanying workers. Over the years, the center has built a monitoring process from the time workers are working abroad until they return home. Continuous contact helps authorities grasp information and wishes, and promptly advise as soon as the labor contract ends.
Workers who wish to continue working abroad will be advised on procedures to choose the right market. For those who want to work domestically, they will be directly connected with businesses in and outside the province. Thanks to the advantage of experience and foreign languages, many workers have been recruited into the position of team manager, interpreter or production team leader with a good income. However, the number of supported workers is only focused on the group going through the Center's channel, accounting for about 20% of the total number of exported workers each year. Most of the workers going through other brokerage channels are not updated with information, leading to difficulties in comprehensive support.

The Provincial Employment Service Center coordinates with businesses to provide consulting and job introduction services to students of vocational training institutions in the province.
According to the Provincial Employment Service Center, the post-export workforce is actually a “valuable asset” that Phu Tho can fully utilize to improve the quality of human resources, serving socio-economic development in the new period. With advantages in foreign languages, working skills, understanding of technology, discipline and international style, they are able to quickly respond to the requirements of enterprises in the fields of processing and manufacturing industry, technical services, international trade or support FDI enterprises in production activities and internal communications. If oriented and used effectively, this will be the core force to help the province improve the quality of labor, attract investment and shorten the gap with localities with stronger industrial development.
To make good use of this resource, in the coming time, Phu Tho will continue to build a complete database of workers working abroad and workers who have returned home, regardless of the channel they used. Having a clear understanding of the information will create conditions for management agencies to proactively connect, advise and support at the right time. In addition, the province will strengthen coordination between the Employment Service Center, FDI enterprises and industrial parks to expand recruitment channels, organize many specialized job fairs specifically for post-export workers.
For workers, it is extremely important to proactively improve foreign languages, soft skills, technological knowledge and management skills while working abroad. This will help them not only improve their career opportunities when returning home but also access better positions in the business. At the same time, workers need to update information on the domestic labor market, avoid depending on income levels abroad and miss out on sustainable development opportunities in their homeland.
