"Mobile offices" for young people

With the explosion of digital technology and flexible working styles, young people are creating a new concept of "office." No longer confined within four walls, many young people are choosing quiet cafes with creative workspaces that inspire them to study and work. The comfort, convenience, and open environment of cafes help them focus, be creative, and generate new ideas, transforming these places into energetic "mobile offices."

Taking her eyes off her laptop screen for a few minutes, Nguyen Phuong Anh (born in 2000, Nong Trang ward) sipped her coffee, looking out the window where the morning light shone on her table. The quiet, airy open space and soft background music made Phuong Anh feel relaxed and inspired. After a short break, Phuong Anh returned to her online work: exchanging emails with colleagues, updating personnel records, planning for the upcoming work week...

Phuong Anh currently works online, following a remote work model in the administrative and human resources field for a financial company in Ho Chi Minh City. All tasks, from team meetings and document processing to communicating with colleagues and reporting progress, are done through online platforms, allowing Phuong Anh to work from anywhere with just a laptop and an internet connection. However, working remotely also requires high concentration and discipline. Therefore, Phuong Anh often chooses coffee shops as her starting point for the workday. For Phuong Anh, coffee shops are not just familiar stopping points but have become her "mobile office," a place where work is efficient, comfortable, and inspiring.

Nguyen Phuong Anh (Nong Trang ward) has taken advantage of the open space at the cafe to focus, be creative, and improve her work performance.

Phuong Anh shared: "The cafe environment helps me concentrate better than working from home, and it creates a fresh feeling every day. I can work, learn new skills, meet friends... When I'm no longer bound by a fixed office, my work becomes much more flexible and creative."

It's not just young freelancers or those working remotely who are embracing this trend; many office workers are also choosing to turn cafes into "mobile offices." As the need for flexible and efficient work communication increases, work teams often turn to cafes for meetings and task management instead of traditional meeting rooms. Among them, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang Nga (Viet Tri ward) is one of those who have embraced this habit.

Ms. Nga currently works as an office employee at a new hospital that is still under construction. Her job requires her to constantly coordinate with colleagues in various areas: the administrative and human resources manager, the communications and marketing manager, and the one responsible for developing operational procedures. Instead of waiting for a fixed meeting room at the hospital, Ms. Nga's team chooses a coffee shop as their meeting place to update progress and discuss daily work.

In a quiet space, each person opens their laptop to monitor their work, yet can easily communicate when needed. Such work sessions help the team save time, be more proactive in handling tasks, and maintain a relaxed spirit amidst the hustle and bustle of preparing for the hospital's official opening.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang Nga (Viet Tri ward) and her colleagues discuss work at a coffee shop, preparing for the opening day of the new hospital.

According to Ms. Nga, working outside the office helps the team save travel time, shorten the work process, and create a more open atmosphere for discussion. "Sitting in a cafe, everyone can more easily share ideas and give feedback to each other. I feel a significant increase in energy, especially during this period when the hospital is rushing to meet deadlines," she added.

Choosing "mobile offices" is becoming a trend among many young people today. Not only do they offer flexibility and comfort, but these open spaces also help increase work efficiency, stimulate creativity, and reduce the feeling of confinement often associated with traditional office environments. For remote workers like Phuong Anh or office workers like Nga, "mobile offices" are the perfect choice to maintain focus, connection, and productivity. This trend reflects a modern, dynamic way of working and demonstrates the quick adaptability of young people to changes in the workplace.

Many cafes also have designated areas for those who need to work online, allowing for both focused and comfortable discussions or group meetings. This model offers several advantages: creating a pleasant atmosphere, expanding creative space, increasing flexibility, and enabling more proactive work. However, "mobile offices" also come with some challenges, such as noise during peak hours, dependence on internet connectivity, and the risk of distractions if personal discipline is lacking. Nevertheless, many young people still consider this a suitable option in the modern work environment that demands adaptability and flexible thinking.

The popularity of "mobile offices" reflects a new approach to work culture: more open, dynamic, and utilizing space to foster inspiration. While not completely replacing traditional offices, this model helps balance work and life, and affirms the creativity, adaptability, and innovative spirit of young people in the digital age.
