Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to enroll approximately 9,880 students in 2026, an increase of about 200 compared to this year. The university will maintain its three admission methods: talent-based selection, selection based on aptitude test scores, and selection based on high school graduation exam scores.
With its talent-based admissions method, Hanoi University of Science and Technology considers applications in three categories: direct admission, admission based on international certificates, and admission based on a combination of application materials and interviews.
However, in 2026, the scoring formula for candidates applying based on a combination of academic profiles and interviews will change from the current one. Specifically, academic transcript scores will be replaced by scores from a critical thinking assessment test.
The candidate's profile score is calculated as follows (maximum 100 points): Profile Score = Thinking Skills Score + Achievement Score + Bonus Points
In this exam, the maximum score for critical thinking is 40 points. The candidate's critical thinking score is calculated based on their Critical Thinking Assessment (TSA) score in 2025 or 2026 using the formula TSA x 40/60.
The maximum achievement score is 50 points. The candidate's achievement score is calculated based on the total points of all valid achievements that the candidate has earned and declared in the system.
The maximum bonus points is 10. Bonus points are awarded to candidates for other academic and scientific research achievements not included in the overall score; foreign language certificates; awards in culture, arts, physical education, and sports; and commendations for social activities and community volunteer work that the candidate declares legitimately on the system.

Candidates with a VSTEP English certificate or an equivalent international English certificate (IELTS 5.0) can convert it into an English score when applying for admission based on their high school graduation exam scores (combinations A01, D01, D04, D07) and receive bonus points.
