Talent recruitment methods are divided into 3 groups: Direct recruitment according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training ; recruitment based on capacity profile combined with interview; recruitment based on international certificates.
Admission method based on international certificates, the candidates are candidates with an average score of 8 or higher in each year of grade 10, 11, 12; have at least 1 of the following international certificates: SAT, ACT, A-Level, AP, IB. For international certificates with subject component scores evaluated in letter system, the conversion table to scores is as follows:

Admission method based on capacity profile combined with interview, candidates need to have an average score of 8 or higher in subjects in 3 years of high school and meet one of the following conditions:
Selected to participate in the National Excellent Student Competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training or won First, Second, Third, or Encouragement prizes in the Provincial/City-level Excellent Student Competition organized and awarded certificates of achievement in the subjects of Mathematics , Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information Technology, Foreign Languages, and Combinations during high school; selected to participate in the National Science and Technology Competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training; selected to participate in the Road to Olympia competition from the monthly round or higher;
Students majoring in Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Information Technology, and Foreign Languages from high schools and specialized high schools nationwide, specialized classes and systems of universities, national universities, and regional universities.
Regulations on calculating candidates' competency profile scores: Candidates' competency profile scores are calculated as follows (maximum 100 points):
HSNL Points = Thinking Points + Achievement Points + Bonus Points

With the admission method based on Thinking Assessment (TSA) test scores and high school graduation exam scores, candidates need to achieve the minimum score according to the regulations of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (announced later).
In 2026, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will keep the same 11 admission combinations and main subjects as previous years, including: A00, A01, A02, B00, D01, D04, D07, D26, D28, D29 and K01.
Candidates applying for admission to English-taught programs, FL1 (English for Science, Technology and Engineering), FL3 (Chinese for Science and Technology), in addition to the necessary conditions (according to the admission methods), candidates need to have one of the following conditions regarding English proficiency or equivalent foreign language: Have a VSTEP English certificate at level B1 or higher; have an IELTS certificate (academic) of 5.0 or higher or equivalent; have a high school graduation exam score in English in 2026 of 6.5 points or higher.

Candidates applying for admission to international training joint programs including TROY-BA, TROY-IT, FL2 (International Professional English), in addition to the necessary conditions (according to the admission methods).
Accordingly, candidates need to have one of the following English proficiency requirements: Have a VSTEP English certificate at level B2 or higher; have an IELTS certificate (academic) of 5.5 or higher or equivalent.
