Hanoi University of Science and Technology has just announced its expected regular university enrollment plan for 2026, with a total target of about 9,880 students.
The school maintains three stable admission methods: Talent admission; Thinking assessment test scores; High school graduation exam scores.
Regarding the method of talent selection, the school applies three forms: Direct selection of excellent students according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training ; Selection based on international certificates such as SAT, ACT, A-Level, AP, IB; Selection based on capacity profile combined with interview.
For direct admission, candidates who are summoned to participate in the national team selection exam for the International Olympic competition or win first, second, or third prizes in the national excellent student selection exam in cultural subjects will be directly admitted to the appropriate major.
Candidates in the national team participating in international science and technology competitions or winning first, second, or third prizes in national science and technology competitions are also directly admitted according to the field of competition topics.
For admission based on international certificates, candidates must have an average score of 8 or higher in grades 10, 11, and 12 and possess at least one valid international certificate. Letter-based certificates will be converted to a 10-point scale according to school regulations.

For the admission form based on capacity records combined with interviews, Hanoi University of Science and Technology applies to candidates graduating from high school in 2026 with an average academic score of 8 or higher and belonging to one of the following categories:
Candidates are selected to participate in the national excellent student exam organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, or won First, Second, Third, or Encouragement prizes in the excellent student exam at the provincial/municipal level organized by the Departments of Education and Training, Hanoi National University, Ho Chi Minh City National University, Hue University, Hanoi Pedagogical University, Ho Chi Minh City Pedagogical University, Vinh University or Viet Bac Mountainous High School in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Foreign Languages or a combination during high school.
Candidates are selected to participate in the National Science and Technology Competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
Candidates are selected to participate in the Road to Olympia competition organized by Vietnam Television from the monthly round and above.
Students of specialized programs (math, physics, chemistry, biology, information technology, foreign languages) of specialized high schools nationwide, or specialized classes, specialized programs of universities, national universities, and regional universities.
The maximum score for this group of candidates is 100 points, including thinking points (maximum 40 points), achievement points (50 points) and bonus points (10 points). In which, the thinking points are converted from the results of the thinking assessment test (TSA) according to the formula TSA x 40/60.

For the 2026 thinking assessment exam, the school plans to organize 3 sessions on Saturday and Sunday, specifically:
Phase 1: Exam date 24-25/1/2026; registration date 5-15/12.
Phase 2: Exam date 14-15/3/2026; registration date 5-15/2/2026.
Phase 3: Exam date 16-17/5/2026; registration date 5-15/4/2026
The exam locations are spread across 11 provinces and cities including: Hanoi, Hung Yen, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Ninh Binh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh and Da Nang.
The results of this exam can be used for admission to many fields, from science and technology to economics, finance, medicine and agriculture.
The school also said that the admission method based on the results of the 2026 high school graduation exam will remain stable with 11 admission combinations as in previous years, including A00, A01, A02, B00, D01, D04, D07, D26, D28, D29 and K01.
The candidates for admission are candidates taking the 2026 high school graduation exam organized by the Ministry of Education and Training and the Departments of Education and Training. Regarding admission conditions, candidates need to graduate from high school and meet the minimum score set by Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
Regarding foreign language requirements, Hanoi University of Science and Technology requires candidates to have a VSTEP English certificate or a valid international certificate that can be converted into points or awarded bonus points when considering admission.
For programs taught in English, candidates need to achieve VSTEP level B1 or higher, IELTS 5.0 or higher, or a high school graduation exam score of 6.5 in English.
For international joint programs such as TROY-BA, TROY-IT, FL2, the school requires VSTEP B2 or IELTS 5.5 or higher.

In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will enroll 9,680 students for 65 training programs. The school's benchmark scores range from 19 to 29.39, with the advanced program Data Science and Artificial Intelligence having the highest score of 29.39 points.
