A university donated 500 million VND to help people in flood-affected areas.

The collective of cadres, lecturers, staff and students of Nam Can Tho University together donated 500 million VND to help people in the North affected by storms and floods.

On October 24, Nam Can Tho University organized a ceremony to present 500 million VND donated by the school to support the people in the North who suffered damage due to storms No. 10 and No. 11. This amount was received by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City.

Speaking at the program, Dr. Nguyen Van Quang, Principal of Nam Can Tho University, said that over the past few days, images of ruined houses, submerged fields, and anxious eyes of people in flood-hit areas have made each of us worried. Natural disasters have taken away many properties, even the lives of people.

Understanding the losses and damages, the staff, lecturers, employees and students of Nam Can Tho University have come together to donate and support the people affected by the storm and flood to overcome difficulties. This is a sincere sharing from the South to the North, demonstrating the spirit of social responsibility and compassion of the Nam Can Tho University community towards the people in the country.

Receiving the above amount, Mr. Le Nguyen Sinh Nhut, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City, thanked the collective of Nam Can Tho University for dedicating part of their income and savings to help people facing difficulties due to natural disasters. This gesture is very valuable, contributing to enhancing the spirit of solidarity, affection and humanity of the Vietnamese people.

The Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Can Tho City added that since the call was launched (October 3), Can Tho has received more than 16 billion VND from generous people donating to help people affected by storms and floods. Recently, the delegation of Can Tho City also organized a trip to give gifts and money to people in 5 provinces including Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai and Ninh Binh.
