The final round of the Food Product Development Competition (FID) 2025, themed " The Future of the Food Industry," took place on December 13th, attracting 30 teams from 14 universities nationwide. The competition was organized by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade in collaboration with the Vietnam Food Science and Technology Association, the National Center for Startup and Innovation Support, and numerous partners.

The competing teams presented their projects.
FID 2025 attracted attention not only for its scale and professional quality but also for its unique, highly applicable ideas, clearly reflecting the innovative thinking of students in the food sector. The projects were divided into three categories: products that promote health; products that create a positive impact on the community and contribute to solving food security issues; and products that address challenges from businesses.

The judging panel will monitor and evaluate.
In the final results, the organizing committee awarded many prizes to outstanding projects. In the health product category, the first prize went to the project "Calmio Alertness Lozenges – containing microencapsulated caffeine," a solution aimed at maintaining long-term concentration and protecting brain health, developed by students from Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Foreign Trade University.
In the category of products creating a positive impact on the community, the project " Durian Seed Dough Pizza" by students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade excellently won first prize. In the category of solving challenges from businesses, first prize was awarded to the project " Nutritional Food – Instant Soup with Bo Chinh Ginseng" , also from students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade.
Notably, among the three first-place winners, " Durian Seed Dough Pizza" received a special award from the judging panel for its innovative idea and novel approach to utilizing agricultural by-products, while also opening up commercial potential for the sustainable food industry. The use of durian seeds – often discarded – to create a new product was surprising and highly praised by experts.
Speaking at the final round, Associate Professor Dr. Le Thi Hong Anh, Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, said that FID 2025 is not just an academic competition but has become a platform connecting young minds, interdisciplinary thinking, technology, and entrepreneurship. According to her, this year's projects clearly demonstrate the aspiration to create breakthrough solutions for the future of the food industry.
Associate Professor Dr. Le Thi Hong Anh also emphasized that FID 2025 marks a significant transformation as it is designed as a complete innovation ecosystem. From the launch ceremony on a virtual reality platform, training programs, professional mentoring, to business experience activities, participants are supported throughout the product development journey from idea to commercialization.
Notably, this year's competition is the first to integrate two key pillars of global trends: digital transformation and green transformation. This is seen as a strategic direction to encourage sustainable food solutions that conserve resources, optimize by-products, and are environmentally friendly, thereby contributing to addressing the long-term challenges of Vietnam's food industry.
