Deputy Minister of Science and Technology: The press must awaken the desire for innovation and creativity

On the afternoon of October 24, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) held the Award Ceremony for the 2024 Science and Technology Journalism Awards.

This is the Ministry of Science and Technology's recognition of the research and discovery efforts of authors writing about science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

This year's awards have awarded 4 first prizes, 5 second prizes, 5 third prizes and 10 consolation prizes. The first prize-winning works include: "When artificial intelligence explodes, "knocks on every door" by Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper; "Digital society in the era of national growth" by People's Army Electronic Newspaper; "Weapons... to save people" by VTC14 Channel, VTC Digital Television Station and "Stories of people who make the Vietnamese 'Flying Dream' come true" by VOV1, Voice of Vietnam Radio.

According to the organizers, the winning entries this year all stood out for their quality content and topical relevance, demonstrating in-depth research, the ability to identify issues, and the ability to convey information vividly and persuasively.

These works also bear the mark of modern journalistic thinking – where the pen and lens of journalists not only record reality but also pave the way for social awareness of the power of science, technology, and innovation.

Speaking at the award ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Hoang Phuong said that the 2024 Science and Technology Journalism Award took place in the context of the Politburo's recent issuance of Resolution No. 57, identifying the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation as one of the strategic pillars for Vietnam to become a developed country.

"For the innovative and groundbreaking ideas of the Resolution to quickly enter life and spread to every citizen, every business, and every scientist, the press is the pioneering force and a solid bridge between policy and practice."

Every journalistic work on science, technology, innovation or digital transformation is not just information, but a bridge between ideas and reality, between laboratories and factories, between Vietnam and the world. In my opinion, it is the voice of knowledge, arousing confidence, awakening aspirations, and encouraging innovation throughout the nation," Deputy Minister Bui Hoang Phuong emphasized.

Held since 2012, the award has received active participation from central and local press agencies with more than 8,000 works and groups of works in 5 types of press submitted. The Organizing Committee has selected 271 excellent works/groups of works to award prizes.
