
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just decided to adjust the take-off and landing times at Tan Son Nhat International Airport during the peak period of the Lunar New Year 2026.
Accordingly, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam decided to adjust the coordination parameters of the runway and landing areas and flight operations services at Tan Son Nhat International Airport during the peak period of the 2025 winter flight schedule (from 7:00 on October 26, 2025 to 6:59 on February 2, 2026) in the time slots from 6:00 to 23:59 at 44 flights/hour.
Adjusting the parameters for coordinating the runway and landing areas and flight operations services (local time) during the peak period of Lunar New Year 2026 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport (from 7:00 on February 2 to 23:59 on March 3, 2026), i.e. from December 15 to January 15, the time frames from 6:00 to 23:59 are 46 flights/hour; the time frames from 00:00 to 5:59 are 42 flights/hour.
Previously, Vietnam Airlines Group (including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and VASCO) opened early ticket sales for Lunar New Year 2026.
Accordingly, the peak period lasts from February 2 to March 3, 2026 (ie from December 15 to January 15 of the lunar calendar), with a total of more than 3.5 million seats sold on the entire domestic and international flight network, an increase of nearly 20% over the same period last year.
Peak flight routes will be concentrated between three major cities, including: Hanoi , Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and key localities such as: Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Vinh, Hue, Quy Nhon, Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc... In which, the number of seats supplied on the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route increased by nearly 18%, the Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang route increased by nearly 9%, the flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Hue increased from 9 - 13% compared to the same period.
To provide passengers with more options, Vietnam Airlines continues to schedule more flights in late evening and early morning hours. During the 2026 Tet holiday, nighttime flights accounted for nearly 20% of the total number of flights. Operating additional flights during these hours optimizes operational capacity, reduces daytime pressure, and offers greater flexibility for passengers.
