Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to reduce admission based on academic records in 2026

Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to eliminate transcript scores and replace them with thinking assessment scores organized by the school to calculate scores in the talent selection method.

Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to enroll about 9,880 students in 2026, an increase of about 200 students compared to this year. The school maintains 3 stable admission methods: talent selection, based on thinking assessment test scores, and based on high school graduation exam scores.

With the talent selection method , Hanoi University of Science and Technology considers in 3 aspects: direct admission, based on international certificates, using capacity profile combined with interview.

However, in 2026, the scoring formula for candidates who register for consideration based on their competency profile combined with an interview will change compared to the present. In particular, the academic transcript score will be replaced by a thinking assessment test score.

The candidate's profile score is calculated as follows (maximum 100 points): Profile score = Thinking score + Achievement score + Bonus score

In which, the maximum thinking score is 40 points. The candidate's thinking score is calculated based on the candidate's thinking assessment (TSA) score in 2025 or 2026 and is calculated according to the formula TSA x 40/60.

The maximum achievement score is 50 points. The candidate's achievement score is calculated based on the total score of valid achievements that the candidate has achieved and declared on the system.

Maximum bonus points are 10 points. The candidate's bonus points are calculated for other achievements in study and scientific research that are not included in the achievement score; foreign language certificates; awards in culture, arts, physical education and sports; awards for social activities and volunteering for the community that the candidate has validly declared on the system.

With the admission method based on the 2026 high school graduation exam scores , the school plans to keep the same 11 admission combinations and main subjects as previous years, including: A00, A01, A02, B00, D01, D04, D07, D26, D28, D29 and K01.

Candidates with VSTEP English certificate or equivalent international English certificate IELTS 5.0 can convert into English subject score when considering admission based on high school graduation exam score (combination A01, D01, D04, D07) and add bonus points.
