General Secretary To Lam attends the Vietnam-Bulgaria Business Forum.

General Secretary To Lam and President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation and numerous businesses from both countries, attended the forum.

According to the VNA special correspondent, within the framework of the official visit of General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, to the Republic of Bulgaria from October 22-24, on the afternoon of October 23 (local time), in Sofia, the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance and the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria, in coordination with the Bulgarian Ministry of Innovation and Development, organized the Vietnam-Bulgaria Business Forum.

General Secretary To Lam and President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rumen Radev, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation and numerous businesses from both countries, attended the forum.

In his welcoming remarks at the forum, President Rumen Radev of the host country stated that Vietnam and Bulgaria share a long-standing historical and traditional friendship. He added that the Vietnam-Bulgaria Business Forum is a particularly important event in the context of the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries entering a new, deeper, more effective, and more substantive phase.

Bulgaria has trained more than 30,000 skilled professionals, students, and researchers for Vietnam, many of whom hold important positions in the Vietnamese government and in the economic , scientific, and cultural fields, actively contributing to fostering friendship between the two countries.

President Rumen Radev emphasized that during this official visit of General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, the two sides adopted a Joint Statement upgrading bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership and will continue to expand and deepen the relationship between the two countries, creating a solid foundation to further promote bilateral trade relations.

President Rumen Radev expressed his admiration for the achievements Vietnam has made in the process of renovation, construction, and development of the country, bringing about practical benefits.

He also stated that Vietnam has maintained stability and strong development, becoming a bright spot for growth in the region and the world.

President Rumen Radev stated that Bulgaria has become one of the leading countries in innovation, high-tech development, artificial intelligence (AI), and the production of high-value technological products.

He expressed his hope that both sides would support and facilitate businesses from both countries to operate and invest in each other's countries, bringing about practical results.

President Rumen Radev expressed his desire to welcome more Vietnamese students to study in Bulgaria, further developing the tradition of cooperation in education, training, and labor; he emphasized that businesses from both sides can cooperate, invest, and create joint products.

President Rumen Radev suggested that Bulgarian businesses cooperate with Vietnamese businesses in areas where Bulgaria has strengths, such as science and technology, clean agriculture, pharmaceuticals, education, renewable energy, and European logistics.

Speaking at the forum, General Secretary To Lam expressed his pleasure at visiting the beautiful country of Bulgaria on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries; he stated that this official visit to Bulgaria creates momentum to promote bilateral relations to a new level.

Both sides have announced the upgrading of their relationship to a Strategic Partnership, a historic milestone marking the beginning of a new phase, for the benefit of the people of both countries, and for peace and stability in the region and globally.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized that President Rumen Radev's presence at the Vietnam-Bulgaria Business Forum was a commitment to creating favorable conditions for cooperation and investment between businesses of both sides.

General Secretary To Lam stated that the world has been and is undergoing many complex and unpredictable changes, not only in geopolitics but also in economics and trade, creating both opportunities and challenges.

The difficulties of the global economy further necessitate cooperation between the two countries to create significant value and meet each other's development needs. In this context, cooperation in economic development, trade, and investment are all crucial pillars.

General Secretary To Lam stated that Bulgaria's development is due to its advancements in science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, which have resulted in high labor productivity.

Therefore, both sides need to strengthen cooperation in the fields of science and technology, digital transformation, defense and security, and defense industry development; and promote cooperation in human resources.

Expressing his pleasure at witnessing the cooperation agreements signed at the forum, and further affirming the increasingly developing cooperative relationship between the two countries for the benefit of the people of both nations, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State are committed to always accompanying, listening, sharing, and hoping to continue receiving the support and close cooperation of international friends and partners, with the role of a bridge and facilitator of foreign investors, especially Bulgarian investors, in the process of national construction and development.

At the forum, General Secretary To Lam and President Rumen Radev, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation agreements, including: an agreement on arbitration between the Vietnam International Arbitration Center and the Arbitration Tribunal (under the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry - BCCI); a memorandum of understanding on strategic cooperation in education and academic exchange between Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Varna University of Economics; a comprehensive international cooperation agreement between Sofia University and Hanoi University of Technology in key areas: AI, machine learning, computer science; a cooperation agreement in the field of space technology between the Military Telecommunications and Industry Corporation (Viettel) and EnduroSat EAD; and a cooperation agreement on information technology and digital transformation between Tri Nam Group and Software Group (Bulgaria).
