The Hanoi Convention is the first international legal framework to prevent, investigate and prosecute cybercrime. The Convention covers everything from criminalizing acts of intrusion, fraud, and dissemination of child pornography to establishing a 24/7 cooperation network between countries to support tracing and collecting electronic evidence. The Hanoi Convention is expected to help narrow the legal gap and enhance cross-border coordination capacity to protect a safe and humane cyberspace.

This is the first time that a location in Vietnam - the capital Hanoi - has been associated with a global multilateral treaty in a field of international importance. This choice emphasizes the position on the path of global integration, and at the same time affirms the international community's recognition of Vietnam's contributions in participating in the development of the Convention.
