Early on a weekend morning, we arrived at the foot of Mui Dien - considered the first place to welcome the sunrise on mainland Vietnam.

Previously, Mui Dien belonged to Phu Yen province, after the merger it now belongs to Hoa Xuan commune, Dak Lak province.

To reach the first dawn of the Fatherland, we started our journey at 4am. At that time, the night was still covering, each step was quiet on the 500m long trail along the mountainside.

The small road winds between a dense green forest on one side, with birds chirping, and a vast ocean with murmuring waves on the other. The fresh air and salty sea breeze make even tired feet feel full of excitement.

Some people compare this journey to a “stairway to heaven” - where each step is a step closer to the first light of a new day.

When we reached the top, the view before us was overwhelming. The sea and sky merged, white clouds drifted, and in the distance the first streak of light appeared on the horizon.

Little by little, the full, red sun gradually rose above the sea, its light casting a golden light on every wave.

Everyone was almost silent, only the sound of waves and the continuous sound of cameras capturing that sacred moment.

On the top of Mui Dien, the lighthouse, which is over 100 years old, stands tall in the sky as a witness to time, a symbol of resilience in the easternmost part of the Fatherland. The red flag with yellow star fluttering in the deep blue sky moved everyone.

Ms. Tran Dieu Linh, from Lam Dong province, shared that the moment the sun gradually rose amidst the murmuring waves and strong sea breeze made her feel light-hearted, as if all her worries were washed away.

“Just standing there, taking a breath of salty air and watching the first rays of sunlight touch the sea, I feel like I am energized for the whole new day,” Linh added.

Leaving the lighthouse, visitors can walk down to Mon beach - a place considered a companion of Mui Dien.

On one side is a crescent-shaped beach with fine white sand and crystal clear water; on the other side is a rocky cape jutting out into the ocean - the place that welcomes the first sunrise on mainland Vietnam.

The harmony between sea, sky and mountains creates a natural picture that is both majestic and poetic, making anyone who has ever set foot here want to come back again.

Mr. Ho Van Lam, in Dak Lak, shared that the trip left him with many special emotions and he will definitely return to Mui Dien one day soon.
