Early on a weekend morning, we arrived at the foot of Mũi Điện (Cape Điện), considered the first place to witness the sunrise on the Vietnamese mainland.

Previously, Mũi Điện belonged to Phú Yên province, but after the merger, it now belongs to Hòa Xuân commune, Đắk Lắk province.

To witness the first rays of dawn in our homeland, we began our journey at 4 a.m. At that time, darkness still enveloped us, and we walked silently along a 500-meter-long trail winding along the mountainside.

The winding path meanders between a lush green forest on one side, filled with the chirping of birds, and the vast ocean on the other, its waves gently lapping. The fresh air and salty sea breeze fill the air, invigorating even the weary feet.

Some people liken this journey to a "stairway to heaven" - where each step brings you closer to the first rays of the new day.

When we reached the top, the view before us was overwhelming. The sea and sky merged, white clouds drifted, and in the distance the first streak of light appeared on the horizon.

Little by little, the full, bright red sun slowly rose from the sea, its golden light illuminating each wave.

Everyone fell almost completely silent, with only the sound of the waves and the incessant clicking of cameras capturing that sacred moment.

Perched atop Mũi Điện, the more than 100-year-old lighthouse stands tall against the sky, a witness to time and a symbol of resilience at the easternmost point of the Fatherland. The red flag with a yellow star flutters proudly against the deep blue sky, evoking strong emotions in all who behold it.

Ms. Tran Dieu Linh, from Lam Dong province, shared that the moment the sun gradually rose amidst the gentle sound of waves and the strong sea breeze made her feel lighthearted, as if all her worries had been washed away.

“Just standing there, taking a breath of salty air and watching the first rays of sunlight touch the sea, I feel like I am energized for the whole new day,” Linh added.

Leaving the lighthouse, visitors can stroll down to Mon Beach – a place often described as a companion to Mui Dien Cape.

On one side lies a crescent-shaped beach with fine white sand and crystal-clear, emerald-like water; on the other side is a rocky headland jutting out into the vast ocean – the place that welcomes the first rays of sunrise on the Vietnamese mainland.

The harmonious blend of sea, sky, and mountains creates a majestic yet poetic natural landscape, making anyone who has ever set foot there long to return again.

Mr. Ho Van Lam, from Dak Lak, shared that the trip left him with many special emotions and he will definitely return to Mui Dien in the near future.
