On the afternoon of October 27, 2025, the National Digital Transformation Agency, Ministry of Science and Technology (MST), chaired a Regional Workshop on AI-based Digital Transformation, with the participation of domestic and international management agencies, research institutes, and businesses.
In his opening remarks at the workshop, Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the National Digital Transformation Agency ( Ministry of Science and Technology ), stated that this is an important event within the framework of the International Digital Week 2025, aimed at promoting cooperation and sharing experiences among countries in applying AI to serve digital transformation and the development of public services.
Vietnam recognizes that AI is not just a technology, but a national intellectual infrastructure, similar to electricity or the internet, that helps enhance competitiveness, serve the people, and promote sustainable development.
The national strategy for AI research, development, and application until 2030 identifies AI as the main driving force to help Vietnam become a leading country in the ASEAN region. Vietnam is focusing on building high-performance computing infrastructure, developing large datasets in Vietnamese, and promoting the application of AI in healthcare, education, agriculture , and smart cities.
In addition, the National Digital Transformation Agency is directing the use of resources from the National Technology Innovation Fund, with 40% of the budget prioritized for AI, to nurture the "Make in Vietnam" technology business ecosystem and support innovative startups.

Mr. Le Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the National Digital Transformation Department, delivered a speech at the workshop.
Mr. Le Anh Tuan also emphasized the spirit of international cooperation and responsible development, stating that Vietnam aims to build open AI technology based on open standards and open source, in order to ensure national self-reliance while contributing to the global community. We need to develop AI that is humane, safe, transparent, and people-centered.
The workshop consisted of two sessions: a thematic session and a business cooperation session. In the thematic session, delegates focused on discussing the application of AI in national databases, solutions for ensuring internet infrastructure security, and mechanisms for AI cooperation between China and ASEAN.

In particular, Mr. Zhao Zhigang, Deputy Secretary-General of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People's Government and Director of the Guangxi Data Administration, introduced the model of the China-ASEAN AI Application Cooperation Center, contributing to strengthening linkages and knowledge sharing in the region.
The business collaboration session brought together representatives from major corporations such as Huawei, VNPT, ZTE, iFLYTEK, FPT Smart Cloud, and MaiYue Technology Company to share experiences in deploying AI solutions for education, healthcare, transportation, and agriculture.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Le Anh Tuan highly appreciated the spirit of exchange, cooperation, and sharing of experiences among experts, managers, research institutes, and businesses from both domestic and international backgrounds. He also expressed confidence that the workshop's results would serve as a foundation to promote cooperation in AI research, development, and application between Vietnam and ASEAN countries, making a practical contribution to regional digital transformation and moving towards a smart, inclusive, and sustainable digital community.
