Hospital 103 has achieved many accomplishments in medical research, contributing to improving the quality of healthcare. With its organ transplantation projects and application of modern technology, Hospital 103 affirms its strategic role in the field of healthcare in Vietnam.

Established during the resistance war against the French under the initial name "Treatment Team 3," Military Hospital 103 (Military Medical Academy) has, over 75 years of development, growth, and progress, become one of the Army's strategic top-tier hospitals, simultaneously performing three important functions: treatment, training, and scientific research.

"Throughout its development, the hospital has always identified science, technology, and innovation as key drivers for improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, training medical personnel, and achieving sustainable development," Major General Luong Cong Thuc emphasized.

In implementing Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, Military Hospital 103 is promoting scientific research linked to application, focusing on building strong research groups; increasing international publications; mastering and implementing advanced and specialized techniques; and promoting comprehensive digital transformation in medical examination and treatment, training, and hospital management.

In addition, according to Major General Luong Cong Thuc, Hospital 103 places special emphasis on military medical research, serving the mission of protecting and caring for the health of soldiers in various combat conditions, in remote areas, border regions, and islands, and successfully carrying out assigned international missions, such as the United Nations peacekeeping mission in South Sudan; and the search and rescue mission after the earthquake disaster in Türkiye and Myanmar.

According to the Director of Hospital 103, the healthcare sector is currently facing many major challenges: rapidly changing disease patterns, an increase in non-communicable diseases, the complex evolution of new infectious diseases, an aging population, and increasingly serious antibiotic resistance. These challenges demand a new approach based on science, technology, and innovation.

In this context, the application of digital technology, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, genetic technology, and precision medicine is opening up new opportunities to improve the effectiveness of diagnosis, treatment, and management of human health.

The scientific conference " Applying Science and Technology to Improve the Quality of Diagnosis and Treatment in the Digital Transformation Era " was organized to create a forum for academic exchange, updating scientific advances, and sharing research and clinical practice experiences among scientists and doctors from Vietnam and abroad.

The conference featured 33 presentations by domestic authors and 12 professors, doctors, and leading experts from countries with advanced medical systems, such as the United States, Germany, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan (China). It included plenary sessions and thematic sessions, with many valuable scientific reports in fields such as internal medicine, surgery, organ transplantation, cardiology, infectious diseases, diagnostic imaging, genetics, and digital transformation in medicine. It also incorporated a continuing medical education program, contributing to the enhancement of professional capacity for medical practitioners.

The conference is an important opportunity to strengthen connections and scientific cooperation, promote knowledge and technology transfer, and aim to improve the quality of medical diagnosis, treatment, and training, better meeting the healthcare needs of soldiers and civilians in the new era.

Professor Tran Viet Tien - Director of the Military Medical Academy, in his speech at the conference evaluating Military Hospital 103, stated that it has developed into a strategic, top-tier hospital of the Army, as well as a major center for treatment, training, and achieving many accomplishments in medical scientific research.

The hospital serves as a center for specialized medicine and a reputable scientific institution domestically, and is gradually integrating internationally.

Military Hospital 103 was the place where the first five organ transplants in Vietnam were performed: kidney transplant in 1992; liver transplant in 2004; heart transplant in 2010; multi-organ transplant in 2014; and lung transplant in 2017, and was a pioneer in kidney transplantation.
