The Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine recently held a ceremony to announce and present appointment decisions for Professor and Associate Professor titles for 2025. This year, the Academy has 10 candidates appointed to the Associate Professor title.
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy – Director of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine – emphasized that the recognition and appointment of professor and associate professor titles has always been a major policy of the Party and the State, aiming to build a team of leading scientific staff according to national standards and approaching regional and international standards.

Over the years, the Academy has appointed 1 Professor and 37 Associate Professors, making significant contributions to improving the quality of training, scientific research, and technology transfer.
According to the State Council of Professors, in the 2025 review period, the whole country had 71 candidates who met the standards for Professor and 829 candidates who met the standards for Associate Professor; the Academy alone had 4 educators who met the standards from the grassroots council.

At the ceremony, in addition to the 4 Associate Professors approved by the Academy's Title Council, there were also 5 Associate Professors appointed from other title councils and 1 Associate Professor reappointed after a 5-year cycle.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Quoc Huy expressed his hope that the newly appointed Associate Professors would continue to leverage their experience, increase international publications, innovate teaching methods, and make even stronger contributions to the academic development of the Academy.

Among the newly appointed Associate Professors, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Phuong Dong – Deputy Director of the Central Acupuncture Hospital – shared his emotion upon receiving the appointment decision. He considered this a significant milestone in his academic career and a responsibility towards the development of Vietnamese medicine.
Associate Professor Tran Phuong Dong pledged to continue pursuing research that integrates traditional medicine with modern medicine based on evidence, promoting international publications, while supporting young professionals and contributing to the standardization and modernization of traditional medicine.

This year's appointments also recognize many individuals with outstanding achievements. Among them, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Anh – Director of Friendship Hospital, was appointed Associate Professor in Internal Medicine with extensive research in infectious diseases, cardiovascular emergencies, intensive care, and nephrology-urology. He has published 59 scientific articles, including 5 prestigious international publications, and has 9 years of teaching experience at the Academy.
The 2025 appointment ceremony once again affirms the determination of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine to build a team of high-quality experts, meeting the requirements of higher education reform and international integration. This also serves as motivation for the newly appointed Associate Professors to continue striving and contributing to the development of Vietnamese medicine in the new era.
