Photo festival 'Land and People of the Northern Mountains in the New Era'

(CLO) The 24th Northern Mountain Region Art Photography Festival introduces new and promising photographic artists.

On December 12th, in Thuc Phan ward, Cao Bang province, the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists and the People's Committee of Cao Bang province organized the opening ceremony of the 24th Northern Mountain Region Art Photography Festival.

With the theme "Land and People of the Northern Mountainous Region in the New Development Era," the 24th Photo Festival brings together photographers from the provinces of Cao Bang, Dien Bien , Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Lang Son, Phu Tho, Son La, Thai Nguyen, and Tuyen Quang.

According to the organizing committee's report, 1,749 works by 246 artists from 9 northern mountainous provinces were submitted to the festival.

Through rigorous judging rounds, the Jury selected 136 works for exhibition by 86 authors and awarded 20 prizes. Among them, two works won Gold Medals: the photo series “Conquering and Exploring Ta Xua” by Tran Trung Hieu (Lao Cai) and “Smoke and Fire on the Training Ground” by Do Ngoc Thanh (Phu Tho).

In addition, the Organizing Committee awarded 8 consolation prizes; 6 bronze medals; and 4 silver medals to authors with outstanding works.

Notably, this year's photo festival has seen the emergence of new, promising photographers, who are a reliable force to inherit and contribute to the core ranks of photography movements in the region and nationwide.

According to photographer Nguyen Xuan Chinh, Head of the Creative Committee of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, the 24th Northern Mountain Region Art Photography Festival contributes to encouraging artistic creativity among photographers in the northern mountainous provinces.

The festival is not only an occasion to receive awards, but also a day of exchange, where different regions showcase their unique identities, blending together to create a common color that promotes the image of Vietnam to the world.

In particular, the selected works offer diverse perspectives and rich themes. The entries are innovative, depicting the beauty of the land and people of the northern mountainous region as well as the beauty of Vietnam as a whole.

The works submitted to the 24th Northern Mountain Region Art Photography Festival will be displayed for the public and tourists from December 12 to 18, 2025, at the Central Flower Garden of Cao Bang province, Thuc Phan ward.
