The Euréka 2025 Award attracted more than 2,100 entries from over 160 universities and colleges nationwide.
A group of students from the Faculty of Public Health, including Huynh Thuy Vy, Le Thi Ngoc Nguyen, and Dao Quang Nghia, excellently won first prize at the 27th Euréka Student Scientific Research Award with their topic "The need for psychosocial support and related factors in patients at the Oncology Chemotherapy Department of the University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City."

Mr. Le Quoc Phong, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, presented the first prize to the group of authors.
The need for psychosocial support among cancer chemotherapy patients is immense, revolving around anxiety, depression, loneliness, lack of information, and difficulties in social interaction, with influencing factors such as age, education, economic status, disease stage, chemotherapy side effects, and quality of life. The University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City and other hospitals need to strengthen specialized support such as counseling, support groups, and social networking to reduce the burden of disease, especially for vulnerable groups.

The delegates took a commemorative photo at the ceremony.
This research project was conducted directly at the Oncology Chemotherapy Department of the hospital, focusing on clarifying the psychosocial support needs of patients. This is an important but often overlooked factor in cancer treatment.
Dr. Lam Quoc Trung, Deputy Head of the Oncology Chemotherapy Department at the University Medical Center of Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized: "Paying attention to psychosocial support in cancer treatment is extremely important. When mental health is well cared for, patients are more likely to adhere to treatment, reduce stress, improve treatment effectiveness, and increase satisfaction."
Dr. Ho Tat Bang, a lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy and the project supervisor, stated: " Scientific research is only truly meaningful when it is put into clinical application. The evidence obtained from research helps managers and medical staff develop comprehensive care strategies, thereby improving treatment effectiveness and quality of life for patients."

Student Huynh Thuy Vy, representing the group of authors, received the first prize.
Speaking on behalf of the research team, student Huynh Thuy Vy shared her emotion upon being named the winner: "I am very honored and hope that this research can contribute a small part to helping cancer patients receive adequate emotional support during this challenging treatment period."
