Enhancing the capacity to commercialize inventions in universities and colleges

(DN) - On December 6, at Dong Nai University, the Department of Science and Technology of Dong Nai province organized a training conference to improve the capacity to register patents and exploit and commercialize patents effectively in institutes, universities and colleges in the province.

At the conference, intellectual property experts shared and introduced intellectual property objects and the role of intellectual property in research and development activities of institutes and universities; identified and established intellectual property rights for inventions and utility solutions; and ways to search and evaluate the ability to protect inventions and utility solutions.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Dong Nai province, Vo Hoang Khai, shared: For each university and research institute, building a specialized intellectual property management, patent management and technology transfer department is a mandatory requirement in the new era. Scientists do not just stop at international publication, but must aim to commercialize knowledge, bring research results into the production and business value chain, thereby making practical contributions to the economic development and industrialization of the province.

“This conference not only provides information but also creates a foundation of necessary skills for units in the work of registering inventions, assessing protection capabilities, valuing intellectual property and implementing commercialization in a systematic manner, in accordance with the current Intellectual Property Law and the State's support policies,” Mr. Vo Hoang Khai emphasized.
