Five "fake" abandoned children were found at the same school location; the benefactor who raised the child is outraged.

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The 2/9 Kindergarten in Gia Lai has 19 students whose meals are sponsored by the "Nurturing Children" project, but philanthropists discovered that as many as 5 of them are "fake" abandoned children.

As Dan Tri newspaper previously reported, Ms. Phan Dieu Huong ( Hanoi ) - a philanthropist participating in the "Nurturing Children" project - discovered that the "abandoned child" she was nurturing had never actually been abandoned.

"Abandoned children" is the term used by Nuoi Em (Nurturing Children) to refer to students who were once sponsored but whose support has now been discontinued because the benefactor has stopped providing assistance.

Ms. Phan Dieu Huong joined the "Nurturing Children" project in September of this year with an "abandoned child" code at 2/9 Kindergarten (Ia Ko commune, Gia Lai province). At that time, the project reported that there were no codes available for the 2025-2026 school year, only "abandoned child" codes from the 2024-2025 school year.

According to Ms. Huong's account, because she received a "defect code," she paid for meals for the entire 2024-2025 school year (starting last September). However, she recently discovered that the school's students have only been receiving support from the "Nurturing Children" program since February of this year.

Following this incident, on the afternoon of December 11th, Ms. Huong stated that she had connected with several other benefactors who are supporting students at the 2/9 Kindergarten and discovered that four more people had also received similar "fake" abandonment codes.

"When I messaged them to verify the information, they only then realized that the child they were raising wasn't an abandoned child. No one had been informed about this 'mistake' by the project beforehand," Ms. Huong said.

One school with only 19 students has been receiving meals since February of this year, but as many as 5 students were assigned the wrong code. None of the 5 students receiving meals noticed the mistake.

This is why Ms. Huong and many other philanthropists have lost faith and are questioning: Is there a scenario involving abandoned codes, where "fake" abandoned codes are created to exploit the compassion of donors?

Ms. Huong said she would continue to clarify this matter with other benefactors.

As previously shared, after paying the fee in September of this year, Ms. Huong was added to the project's Facebook group for updating photos of lunch at the 2/9 school. However, since joining the group, she hasn't seen any photos posted by the teachers.

Until the evening of December 8th, when the "Nurturing Children" project came under suspicion, Ms. Huong joined the group to find out more information and discovered that the group had only been active since February of this year.

When Hương questioned the project about this, she received the explanation: "The code was entered incorrectly." The student she was fostering was actually a child added to the program in February, not a child who had been "abandoned" or left behind by benefactors.

The project also confirmed that the amount of money she paid to raise her younger sibling was 750,000 VND more for 4 months, from September 2024 to January 2025 - the period during which the child was not adopted by any foster siblings. In other words, the child was never "abandoned" or "abandoned" as the Raising My Child project uses the term.

Ms. Huong also contacted the Principal of 2/9 Siu H Mup Kindergarten and confirmed that all 19 students at the school had been receiving meal support from the "Nuoi Em" program since February.

The school has only received meal money for four months of the 2024-2025 school year and has not yet received money for the 2025-2026 school year. Furthermore, the number of meals provided to the students is less than the theoretical 22, with students only having 15 and 10 meals in February and May respectively. Therefore, a significant amount of money donated by benefactors to support the students remains unaccounted for, but this has not been communicated to the school by the project.
