The Australian Minister for Education is currently on a working visit to Vietnam. He visited the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and Western Sydney Vietnam.

During a dialogue with school leaders and students, he emphasized that the Australian-Vietnamese educational collaboration is creating "very special values," thanks to the combination of high-quality training and the studious spirit of the Vietnamese people.

Minister Jason Clare cited the 17-year partnership between Western Sydney University and the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) as an example of the effectiveness of international educational cooperation between the two countries.

Recalling the school's previous figures, the Minister remarked that the very high retention and completion rates of Vietnamese students are not a coincidence.

According to him, this reflects the unique nature of how Vietnamese people value education and understand the power of knowledge. What impressed him most was the Vietnamese people's thirst for learning.

"In Vietnam, everyone understands the value of education, starting with the fathers and older brothers in each family. When that spirit combines with a quality educational partnership, we can create something very, very special," he said.

The Minister emphasized that the reason he wanted to come to Vietnam in person was to see firsthand what educational cooperation is being built by both sides. He said that Australian universities have a long-standing presence and cooperation with Vietnam, sharing a common goal of training people who will shape the future.

He described the role of universities as "builders of the future." Therefore, during the meeting, the Minister said he came "to listen to the future" through the stories of Vietnamese students and alumni.

He said he wanted to personally find out why this model is successful and how to replicate it elsewhere. He also hoped that the visit would lead to further expansion of educational cooperation between the two countries, particularly in exchange programs, research, and scalable international training models.
