Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics cooperates in doctoral training with the University of Huddersfield, UK

According to the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), this is an important milestone in UEH’s strategy to internationalize postgraduate education, opening up opportunities to access academic knowledge and prestigious degrees for the research community in Vietnam. The program does not only stop at academic exchange but also aims to co-create a sustainable research ecosystem where local knowledge is standardized according to global standards.

The ceremony was attended by senior leaders of the two units. The University of Huddersfield was attended by Professor Monty Adkins - Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Knowledge Exchange and Head of the Graduate School and Professor Abhijit Sharma - Director of the Graduate Programme.

In his opening speech, Dr. Dinh Cong Khai emphasized: "The joint doctoral training program between UEH and the University of Huddersfield is a clear demonstration of UEH's determination in implementing an internationalization strategy, developing a multidisciplinary university, aiming for sustainable standards and deep international integration. This is an important milestone contributing to strengthening UEH's academic position in the global education network, while providing opportunities to access elite British education right in Vietnam."

Professor Monty Adkins also expressed his confidence in the long-term cooperation between the two universities and added: Since 2017, UEH and Huddersfield have maintained academic and research exchange activities through discussions, visits, and work, and hope that the connection will continue to grow strongly in the future. This cooperation will open up new opportunities in academic innovation and enhance research capacity between the two major universities; creating a foundation to jointly promote joint research projects, spread knowledge and make practical contributions to the development of global higher education.

During the cooperation process, Prof. Dr. Vo Xuan Vinh - who has devoted much effort to organizing connections and cooperation between the two schools, said: "Through cooperation with the University of Huddersfield, we hope to organize a high-quality doctoral training program, with degrees from a world- leading university; at the same time, create conditions for the two schools' teaching staff to co-instruct and cooperate in research, improving the quality of international publications."
