Welcoming Minister Jason Clare to Vietnam, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long highly appreciated the effective working results between the Ministers of Education of the two countries and the signing of several important cooperation documents on this occasion.

Within the overall comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, educational cooperation is developing well. Both sides are effectively implementing the Agreement on Cooperation in Education and Training between the two Governments for the period 2024-2028 and the Supplementary Agreement between the two Governments related to the Bilateral Human Resource Development Program for the period 2021-2025.

Regarding the information that the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training is implementing doctoral and master's degree training for lecturers at higher education institutions under Project 89, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long expressed his pleasure that many people selected for doctoral training have registered to study in Australia.

The Deputy Prime Minister stated that, in implementing Resolution 71/NQ-TW on breakthroughs in education and training development, Vietnam considers education and training a top national priority, aiming to build a high-quality workforce to meet development requirements. In this context, Vietnam hopes to receive support, cooperation, and assistance from international friends, especially traditional partners like Australia.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his hope that Australia would continue to support English language training to help Vietnam effectively implement the "Making English a Second Language in Schools 2025-2035" project; encourage the opening of Australian university branches in Vietnam; and continue to support Vietnamese students in their studies in Australia.

At the same time, further strengthening cooperation in fields such as science and technology and innovation is crucial for Vietnam's growth in the coming years.

Thanking the Deputy Prime Minister for taking the time to meet, Australian Education Minister Jason Clare noted that educational cooperation is a crucial pillar in the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. Currently, there are approximately 36,000 Vietnamese students studying in Australia. Around 160,000 Vietnamese are alumni of Australian universities.

Minister Jason Clare informed that today, he and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son witnessed the signing ceremony of the agreement on Project 89 between the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training, and six Australian universities. Expecting this agreement to further promote educational cooperation between the two countries, Mr. Jason Clare of Australia affirmed his readiness to support Vietnam in implementing the project to make English a second language in schools.
