
Welcoming the delegation, on the side of Khon Kaen University were Associate Professor Dr. Keeratiporn Jutawiriya, Director of the Center for ASEAN Studies, Khon Kaen University, and Associate Professor Dr. Thananan Boonwanna, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Department of Mekong Studies, along with lecturers and graduate students of Khon Kaen University.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed issues of enhancing academic cooperation between Khon Kaen University and Vietnamese educational institutions, including a number of key issues such as plans to develop Vietnamese language teaching at Khon Kaen University; promoting research cooperation on Mekong issues, culture, education and knowledge connection between the two countries.
Notably, the two sides spent a lot of time discussing the establishment of the Center for Vietnamese Studies under the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Khon Kaen University, with the goal of becoming a comprehensive "learning center" on Vietnamese studies, including language, history, culture, society and regional academic cooperation. In the coming time, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Khon Kaen together with the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training will discuss and agree further with the leadership of Khon Kaen University on this issue.

The visit and working session of the Vietnamese delegation at Khon Kaen University marks another important step in laying the foundation for enhancing academic cooperation between Vietnam and Thailand, while promoting research cooperation activities on Vietnam in Thailand in the future.
Khon Kaen University (KKU) is the first higher education institution (established in 1964) and the most important educational center in the Northeastern region of Thailand. Located in Mueang Khon Kaen District, Khon Kaen Province, with an area of approximately 900 hectares, KKU is Thailand's leading national research university and the educational center of the Greater Mekong Subregion.
KKU is renowned and ranked globally in many fields, especially health sciences (medicine, public health ), science and technology, social sciences, business administration. Currently, KKU has a structure of 19 faculties, 3 colleges, 1 university and various research institutes with more than 40,000 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
