
According to a VNA correspondent in New Delhi, on December 4-5, the delegation attended the plenary session and specialized sessions of the workshop “Social science research in the Indo- Pacific region for a sustainable future”. The workshop included 7 specialized discussion sessions, bringing together experts and scientists from many leading academies, research councils and universities in the region and internationally such as ICSSR, Australian Academy of Social Sciences (ASSA), Korean Social Science Research Council (KOSSREC), Thailand Economic and Social Research Institute (TDRI), International Development Research Center of Canada (IDRC), Science Council of Japan (SCJ) and representatives of organizations from nearly 20 countries in the region.

The delegation of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences contributed 3 presentations at important discussion sessions. Dr. Phan Cao Nhat Anh - Deputy Director of the Institute for South Asian, West Asian and African Studies - presented at Session 1 on the role of social sciences in the face of emerging global changes; Dr. Vu Thi Thanh from the Institute for Human, Family and Gender Studies presented at Session 2 on the topic of sustainable development and interdisciplinary approaches in the context of environmental and technological change; Dr. Nguyen Linh Giang - Deputy Director of the Institute of State and Law - presented at Session 5 on ethics, integration and transformation in the era of artificial intelligence (AI). The presentations all addressed current issues, attracting attention and receiving many exchanges and discussions from the international scientific community.
On the sidelines of the workshop, the delegation met and exchanged with representatives of many prestigious international organizations to discuss research topics of common interest and identify new cooperation opportunities.

In parallel with the workshop, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Minh attended the AASSREC Executive Board meeting. At the meeting, the Executive Board reviewed and approved many important contents such as the 2023 - 2025 financial and operational reports, the 2026 budget estimate, the financial sustainability enhancement strategy, the assessment of sponsored activities during the term and discussed the expansion of the membership network. In addition, the members agreed to promote the search for a host unit for the AASSREC Secretariat for the next phase and gradually improve the association's legal status. This is considered a strategic step, contributing to strengthening the governance model and improving the operational efficiency of AASSREC in the long term.

At the meeting, representatives of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences also discussed cooperation orientations in building a research ecosystem, supporting young researchers to participate in multinational research programs according to AASSREC's priorities and continuing to affirm Vietnam's active role in the regional research network.
During the working trip, the delegation worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in India. Vice President Nguyen Duc Minh discussed with Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai the prospects for expanding research cooperation in social sciences and humanities between the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and Indian research institutions. The Ambassador affirmed his readiness to support the promotion of scholar exchange programs, conduct bilateral seminars and joint research projects, contributing to strengthening scientific and educational cooperation between Vietnam and India.
