VinFuture 2025: Revealing the winners of the million-dollar prize

According to the Organizing Committee, the VinFuture Main Prize is worth 3 million USD and three Special Prizes for female scientists , scientists from developing countries, and scientists researching new fields, each worth 500,000 USD.

This year, VinFuture received more than 1,700 applications from over 70 countries and territories - 2.8 times more than season 1 - demonstrating the award's growing prestige and influence after half a decade of development. The honored works are the crystallization of pioneering thinking, of persistent efforts to overcome challenges and of the aspiration to use science to serve life.

VinFuture 2025 carries the message "Rise together - Prosper together".

“When the names of this year’s award winners are announced, we will see that VinFuture has once again chosen the right recipient. In particular, this year’s Main Prize is a research project that has an impact on a very large population globally,” revealed Prof. Dang Van Chi, member of the VinFuture Award Council.

Throughout the Award Ceremony, VinFuture 2025's message of "Strengthening Together - Prospering Together" will be told in the language of contemporary art, combined with Vietnamese identity. The carefully prepared performances will recreate VinFuture's 5-year journey: from the origin of aspiration to global impact.

Alongside the science stars, the VinFuture Awards 2025 stage will feature Alicia Keys - a global music icon, winner of 17 prestigious Grammy awards. Her music carries a strong, steadfast and hopeful spirit, in line with the message "Together we rise - Together we prosper" of this year's awards season and as a tribute to scientists and innovators who are persistently creating a progressive life for humanity.

Motivation for young Vietnamese scientists to innovate and move the country forward

Founded in 2020 with the mission of promoting science to serve humanity, after only 5 years, VinFuture has become a prestigious destination for the world's scientific community, gathering many Nobel laureates and other prestigious awards, while connecting researchers to find answers to the most urgent questions of the time.

Notably, after the first 4 seasons, 4 groups of scientists, after being honored on the VinFuture stage, continued to be named at the Nobel Prize. This is considered a testament to the outstanding vision of the first international award founded by Vietnamese people, and at the same time, reflects the worthy recognition for research that has a profound impact on humanity.

“We, as members of the Council, have chosen the right person. If they win the VinFuture Prize, scientists will have a greater chance of winning the Nobel Prize,” said Professor Dang Van Chi.

In the 5th season, VinFuture's message "Together we grow - Together we prosper" affirms the belief that sustainable development of the planet can only be achieved when knowledge is shared, and science and technology become catalysts to help countries progress together. With that spirit, the "Science for Life" seminar sessions, the "Dialogue to Explore the Future" series at 10 major universities or the "Toa V - Science Touchpoint" exhibition, taking place continuously from December 2 to December 6, have brought Hanoi into rare intellectual festivals.

The stories that outstanding scientists bring to VinFuture 2025, about AI, medicine, agriculture, new technology... not only expand knowledge but also evoke many thoughts about the development directions of humanity in the next decade.

After a vibrant academic week, the elite of global science will converge on the “red carpet of wisdom” at the VinFuture 2025 Awards Ceremony on the evening of December 5. That moment is when science serving humanity shines brightest, while also demonstrating the image of a proactive, open Vietnam that is increasingly more closely connected to the global flow of knowledge.

“Vietnam is still building its capacity for research and development in science and technology. And I hope that the VinFuture Prize will be the driving force for young Vietnamese scientists and technologists to truly innovate and move the country forward,” Professor Chi emphasized.
