According to the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, the 2025 admissions process reflects the efforts of its member universities in standardizing procedures and applying a score conversion table between different admission methods and combinations.

The enrollment rate of 97.57% demonstrates the enduring appeal of the training programs amidst intense competition among higher education institutions. However, the admissions system still faces challenges regarding the diverse range of admission methods, inconsistent conversion rates, and complex priority admission procedures.
Based on the above practical experience, Ho Chi Minh City National University has determined that its 2026 admissions process will be significantly improved, focusing on streamlining, standardization, and quality enhancement, in line with the Ministry of Education and Training 's guidelines and international trends.
Accordingly, based on an analysis of the effectiveness of current methods, the unit has decided to unify the implementation of an integrated admission method, in which the competency assessment results play a pivotal role. This approach allows for a reduction in the number of methods, minimizes confusion for candidates, and creates uniformity in evaluating the quality of incoming students.
Specifically, the new integrated method is designed based on a combination of three criteria: high school graduation exam results, competency assessment results, and high school academic performance. The weighting of each criterion is determined based on actual data from the three most recent years to ensure a balance between input and training quality. Bonus points are awarded to students with outstanding achievements at specialized and gifted schools, with strict regulations to maintain fairness among different groups of candidates.
Member units retain autonomy in implementation details but must adhere to the overall framework and ensure transparency and openness throughout the entire process.
In 2026, Ho Chi Minh City National University will continue to strongly promote the standardization of admission techniques and the digitization of application documents, especially for priority admission groups; and will continue to coordinate with the Ministry of Education and Training and other units organizing the National Competency Assessment Exam to move towards a common standard for input quality, preparing for the computer-based testing phase from 2027.
