The first round of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology's thinking assessment exam is scheduled to take place on January 24 and 25, 2026, at 11 exam clusters nationwide, from Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hung Yen to Da Nang.
If candidates do not register for the first round of the TSA thinking assessment exam, they can register for the next two rounds, taking place in March and May 2026.
In 2026, Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to organize 3 rounds of thinking assessment exams with about 60,000 test takers. Each round will have 3-4 test teams at 30 test locations. The test fee is 500,000 VND/time.

To comply with the new general education program of the Ministry of Education and Training , Hanoi University of Science and Technology said that the content and form of the thinking assessment test have been implemented according to the design and will remain stable for many years to come.
Accordingly, the test consists of 3 parts: mathematical thinking (60 minutes), reading comprehension (30 minutes), and scientific thinking/problem solving (60 minutes).
These are 3 independent tests, the test questions will focus on assessing the thinking ability of the candidate in each test, not directly testing the knowledge of any subject. The test format is multiple choice on computer, the test results will be valid for 2 years to serve the university admission work.

Detailed structure of the thinking assessment test
In 2025, Hanoi University of Science and Technology organized 3 rounds of thinking assessment exams, serving nearly 57,000 exams with a total of more than 28,000 candidates.
The average score of the 2025 thinking assessment test is 55.23 points. There are 11 candidates with a score of 90 or higher, 202 candidates with a score of 80 or higher, 1,860 candidates with a score of 70 or higher, and 20,421 candidates with a score of 50 or higher.
The exam results have been used by more than 50 universities for university admissions for the 2025-2026 school year.
