Applying technology brings positive changes
Information technology not only opens up opportunities for innovation in teaching and learning but also contributes to narrowing the knowledge gap between regions, helping to reduce “information poverty” in education . However, in many schools in remote areas, teachers and students still face many barriers in accessing infrastructure, digital skills and learning resources.
Mr. Dinh Thai Vinh Tra - Head of the Department of Ethnic and Student Education, Ben Tre Department of Education and Training, said that the development of technology has created new opportunities, bringing great benefits to the teaching and learning process.
In the province, technologies such as computers, projectors, interactive boards, teaching support software, online platforms, etc. have been widely applied in educational institutions. Thereby, helping to improve the quality, efficiency and experience of learners; at the same time, gradually reducing the gap in information and knowledge between regions.
In particular, the diversity of information technology applications in management and teaching has opened up enormous opportunities in improving the quality of education.
The application of information technology by teachers in teaching is developing strongly. The awareness of teachers and students about the importance of information technology in teaching and learning is raised.
Closing the digital divide is an urgent need
Besides the achieved results, there are still many difficulties pointed out by Mr. Dinh Thai Vinh Tra.
Accordingly, the teaching staff's skills in using information technology in teaching and learning are still limited, leading to ineffective application.
Lack of facilities and technology infrastructure, especially in remote schools, remains a major barrier. In addition, concerns about information security on the Internet and the impact on students' health also partly limit the application of information technology in teaching by teachers.
The application of information technology in teaching is still of a "model" nature, only teaching model points, teaching model models and mainly focusing on applying information technology in teaching conferences, seminars, demonstration teaching, competitions for excellent teachers or pre-announced teaching periods.
Some teachers and students have not actively exploited the Internet for the purpose of studying and practicing their information technology skills; and have limited exploitation of information resources on the Internet, so the lectures applying information technology are not lively and of good quality.
In order for teachers to be able to best apply information technology in teaching, Mr. Dinh Thai Vinh Tra said that it is necessary to improve and upgrade the information technology infrastructure at educational institutions. Specifically, investing in computers, projectors, high-speed internet, smart classrooms, computer rooms, etc. to create a modern digital learning environment, supporting the application of information technology in teaching. At the same time, there should be appropriate policies and financial resources to maintain, upgrade and develop the information technology infrastructure in education.
Besides, focusing on building digital platforms and a rich and diverse digital resource repository is also an important solution so that teachers and students can easily access and exploit digital documents and learning materials in the teaching and learning process.
It can be said that the application of information technology in education is not only a requirement for teaching innovation, but also a sustainable solution to reduce information poverty - expanding access to knowledge for students in disadvantaged areas.
When digital infrastructure is invested, digital skills are improved and technology is used effectively in the classroom, every teacher and every student in remote areas will have more "doors" to step into the wide open world of knowledge. That is how education contributes to narrowing the development gap and fostering equality in learning opportunities for everyone.
