Recently, many former students of the London College of Design and Fashion (Hanoi) have complained that they paid hundreds of millions of VND in tuition fees to pursue a university degree, only to be surprised to learn that their university degrees are not recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training.

On the morning of December 13th, Ms. Ha Thi Hang, Executive Director of London College of Design and Fashion, stated that the school is coordinating with the Ministry of Education and Training, the British Embassy, and relevant management agencies to find a solution, with the top priority being to ensure the best interests of the students.

According to the school's representative, during its operation in Vietnam, the school has always aimed to provide students with access to advanced education and international integration. Therefore, after completing the program in Vietnam, the school has assisted and introduced procedures for students who wish to transfer to study in foreign educational programs. The entire process of admission, training organization, and degree awarding is under the authority of the foreign university according to the regulations of the host country.

Although the diploma is recognized in many major countries around the world , according to current regulations, it must still meet certain requirements to be officially recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training.

"The school apologizes for not promptly informing students transferring to the bachelor's degree program about the fact that these programs do not yet meet the accreditation requirements in Vietnam, thereby causing anxiety for students and parents."

"We are committed to reviewing the entire legal process to ensure that academic information is always up-to-date and accurate. The school hopes to continue receiving detailed guidance from relevant authorities, especially during this period," a school representative stated.

London College of Design and Fashion (Hanoi) is a vocational college with foreign investment, established in Vietnam in 2014. The college is authorized to provide college-level training, but not university-level training.

The Ministry of Education and Training stated that, to date, the London College of Design and Fashion has not been granted a license to conduct overseas training partnerships for any of its programs. Therefore, the bachelor's degrees awarded by Liverpool John Moores University to its students are not yet eligible for recognition.

"Based on existing records, documents, and information, and in comparison with current legal regulations, the relevant specialized units of the Ministry of Education and Training recognize this as a complex issue involving multiple legal entities, with indications of non-compliance with current regulations on international training partnerships," the Ministry of Education and Training stated.

Therefore, the Ministry of Education and Training continues to request relevant agencies, organizations, and individuals to report and provide more information on the training activities, joint training programs, and diploma issuance of the London College of Design and Fashion to verify and clarify the matter. The Ministry of Education and Training is also considering establishing an inspection team to conduct a comprehensive review of the activities of the London College of Design and Fashion within the scope of the Ministry's state management.

"The Ministry will handle the case in accordance with the law, strictly deal with any violations within its authority, and at the same time ensure the legitimate rights and interests of students based on full compliance with current regulations," the Ministry of Education and Training affirmed.

Previously, the information that their degrees were not recognized caused frustration among students because it affected their life paths, as they were unable to find jobs in public institutions or pursue master's degrees in Vietnam.

Students reported that when the school advertised and published program information on its website, it promised that "international degrees are valid worldwide." Trusting this promise, many enrolled in the courses. Each course had a total of over 40 students. The amount a student had to pay for the final year of their undergraduate program alone was approximately 289 million VND.

Regarding the issue of unrecognized international diplomas: The Ministry of Education and Training is conducting an investigation . Concerning the recognition of diplomas and joint training programs at the London College of Design and Fashion, the Ministry of Education and Training stated that it is considering establishing a comprehensive inspection team to examine the school's operations and will take strict action if any violations are found.
Many students are devastated after paying hundreds of millions of dong because their degrees are not recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training . While applying for a master's degree at a domestic university, HLB (Hanoi) was shocked to learn that her undergraduate degree was not recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
