At noon on December 13th, shooters Phi Thanh Thao and Le Thi Mong Tuyen competed in the women's 10m air rifle individual event. This is the event in which Phi Thanh Thao is expected to win the gold medal. The "hot girl" who started shooting had a good start but couldn't maintain consistency afterwards. Meanwhile, despite her young age, Mong Tuyen competed quite tenaciously at the SEA Games 33. Prior to that, the shooter born in 2004 won a gold medal in the 10m air rifle mixed event. For female athletes, having to carry a rifle and aim for nearly a few dozen seconds requires years of training. Furthermore, the shooting suits weigh over 10kg. The total weight on each shooter reaches 20kg. Coach Quoc Cuong explained that the suits must be sufficiently rigid to keep the joints in their arms and legs from loosening. In addition, these specialized suits also prevent injuries during competition. Phi Thanh Thao couldn't win a medal as expected, but she still has one more event on December 14th. While Mong Tuyen won the bronze medal, the two athletes who won the gold and silver medals were Indonesian. The shooters are fully equipped during training and competition. An air rifle like this can cost up to 100 million VND.
