Colonel, Professor, Dr. Dinh Xuan Dung introduced the historical memoir The Thirty-Year Battle, over 1,000 pages long, which was just published for the 5th time by the People's Army Publishing House on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
He introduced this book series to officers and soldiers at the Academy of Politics ( Ministry of National Defense ) at the book launch ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (1975 - 2025) and to respond to the fourth Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in 2025 in Hanoi .
The grand panorama
This is a book that summarizes the major battles of our army and people from 1945-1975, showing the battle of wits between two wills. The will of our army is for national independence and national unification, and the will of the invaders.
It was a battle of wits and strength in military strategy in all major battles from 1945-1975. Through that, we can clearly see the intelligence of our army.
Professor Dinh Xuan Dung shares about the book series Thirty Years' Battle - Photo: T.DIEU
Mr. Dung said that history books are often very dry. But Thirty Years' Battle is a special book. It is a historical memoir, with literary elements in it, non-fiction literature, respecting historical truth to the highest degree, with vivid, everyday stories.
A special feature is that the book was written by about 60 people. Four generals participated in directing the book: General Hoang Van Thai, Lieutenant General Tran Do, Senior General Dang Vu Hiep and Senior General Tran Van Quang.
There were 25 people who wrote the book over 10 years. In addition to the 4 generals who directed it, there were nearly 30 people who wrote this book, and 30 active collaborators from various branches of the military. All of them were once soldiers, so their lives were very rich, and they wrote very truthfully.
The book series has honestly shown the growth and determination of our army with very specific data.
The first pages of the book series talk about the Vietnam Propaganda Liberation Army, which from that small army became a large army, present throughout the North, Central and South as Uncle Ho believed.
The last pages of the book talk about the Ho Chi Minh Campaign to liberate the South and unify the country in April 1975. At that time, we had four army corps appearing at the same time, and with the 235th army corps from the South, they all set out at the same time to liberate the South.
"No army has grown so majestically in such a short time, achieving such glorious victories," said Mr. Dinh Xuan Dung.

Through time regression
In addition to the Thirty-Year Battle series, on this occasion, the People's Army Publishing House released a total of 15 book titles.
These are typical works from the massive treasure currently being preserved for reprinting and publishing of newly written, researched, and compiled manuscripts about the resistance war against America to save the country through the passage of time with new materials and expressions.
The book series has many different genres such as: monographs, memoirs, historical reports, epic novels, long poems, literary criticism theories. Especially the photo book project Ho Chi Minh City - 50 years of glorious golden name (1975 - 2025) .
Some works in the book series have also contributed to clarifying many issues and events that were not mentioned in previous editions or supplementing and revising some documents to ensure accuracy and consistency in each book and the entire series.
Lieutenant General Truong Thien To - Deputy Director of the General Department of Politics - highly appreciated the People's Army Publishing House's efforts in selecting the genre and authors, helping readers gain a deeper understanding of the nation's history, contributing to educating the tradition of patriotism and national pride for today's and future generations...
