Ninh Binh Club announces 'blockbuster' overseas Vietnamese Do Nguyen Thanh Chung

Overseas Vietnamese player Do Nguyen Thanh Chung, who is currently playing in the Bulgarian national championship and was once called up to the country's U21 team, has officially joined Ninh Binh Club.

On the evening of July 27, Slavia Sofia Club (Bulgaria) confirmed that player Do Nguyen Thanh Chung officially joined Ninh Binh Club. The ancient capital team also quickly announced the sensational deal on its homepage.

From Bulgaria, Do Nguyen Thanh Chung signed a 5-year contract with Ninh Binh Club. He will return to Vietnam next week to officially complete the procedures to introduce himself to his new team.

Slavia Sofia Club said they had carefully negotiated with Ninh Binh before reaching a final agreement, aiming to create conditions for the young midfielder to develop his talent and contribute to the Vietnam national team in the future.

The transfer fee for Do Nguyen Thanh Chung has not been disclosed. However, according to the transfer information website Transfermarkt , Thanh Chung is valued at up to 400,000 euros (about 12 billion VND).

Do Nguyen Thanh Chung was born in 2005 in Bulgaria, his parents are both Vietnamese and he currently holds dual Vietnamese and Bulgarian citizenship. He grew up at CSKA Sofia, played professionally since 2013, is a promising player of Slavia Sofia's first team in the Bulgarian National Championship and has participated in all youth levels of this country.

When Sofia Club president put Do Nguyen Thanh Chung up for sale, big teams in V-League quickly approached him but only Ninh Binh succeeded. The superior treatment (salary, bonus, signing bonus) of Ninh Binh Club made Thanh Chung quickly agree.

With his ability confirmed in Europe at the age of 20, Thanh Chung shows great potential when he is eligible to wear the Vietnamese national team shirt this year (due to his citizenship). This explains the "hotness" of this player in the domestic media in recent days.

Do Nguyen Thanh Chung is 1.75m tall, plays as a central midfielder, and is right-footed. In the 2024-2025 season, he scored 2 goals and 1 assist in 31 appearances for Slavia Sofia in the Bulgarian National Championship. When he returns to Vietnam, Thanh Chung will be the highest-class midfielder among the group of overseas Vietnamese players currently present in the V-League.
