By the afternoon of November 7, the health of two fishermen who were swept out to sea by waves and rescued by the search and rescue team of Dak Lak Provincial Police, Tuy An Dong Commune Police and local people has gradually recovered and stabilized.
Previously, at about 5:30 a.m. on November 7, fishing boat TG-93259, with a capacity of 350 horsepower, owned by fisherman Nguyen Van Tuan (36 years old, residing in Xuan Dai ward) was anchored in the Van Cui creek area (in Tien Chau village, Tuy An Dong commune) when floodwaters from the upper Ky Lo river crashed down, causing the anchor rope to break and being swept out to sea.
Seeing their fishing boat being swept away by the flood, two fishermen, Bui Van Ha (22 years old, resident of Xuan Tho commune) and Huynh Duy Tan (48 years old, resident of Song Cau ward) rowed out in a basket boat to start the engine and rescue the fishing boat.
However, encountering strong currents, the fishing boat was swept away to the seaport of Phu Hoi village, hit a rocky reef and capsized by large waves. Mr. Tan jumped into a basket boat and swam to shore but was swept away by waves to the sea of Vung La, Song Cau ward, and disappeared.
Upon receiving the news, Colonel Tran Binh Hung, Deputy Director of Dak Lak Provincial Police, commanded the search and rescue force, helped people prevent storms and floods, and the Provincial Police in the area arrived at the scene to direct and coordinate with other forces to rescue the two fishermen.
At noon of the same day, Mr. Tan was found and rescued by fishermen while drifting to the sea of Vung La, Song Cau ward.
Fisherman Ha clung to the fishing boat in distress and was approached by the search and rescue force of the Provincial Police in coordination with Tuy An Dong Commune Police and local people, and brought safely to shore.
