EVNCPC held an urgent online meeting, mobilizing all forces to fix the problem, aiming to basically restore power to the entire area in the next 3 days.

On the morning of November 7, the Central Power Corporation (EVNCPC) held an urgent online meeting, mobilizing all forces to fix the problem, aiming to basically restore power to the entire region in the next 3 days.

The meeting was chaired by EVNCPC General Director Ngo Tan Cu, with the participation of Chairman of the Board of Members Nguyen Thanh and EVNCPC member agencies and units.

According to statistics updated up to 7am the same day, storm Kalmaegi caused 31 incidents on the 110kV grid, causing power outages at 17 110kV transformer stations in Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces, along with hundreds of fallen power poles and lines. Broken trees blocked roads, widespread flooding made access to the scene difficult.

At the medium voltage level, EVNCPC recorded 427 incidents and power outages, causing more than 1.6 million customers to lose power, accounting for about 26% of EVNCPC's total customers. The heaviest damage was concentrated in Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces.

Immediately after the storm, the Power Companies urgently inspected the system, making efforts to restore power to more than 315,000 customers, equivalent to 3,674 distribution transformer stations. The remaining 1.29 million customers are being processed, of which the most severe is Gia Lai Power Company with 678,995 customers (69.54%) and Dak Lak Power Company with 324,928 customers (34.30%). The estimated lost capacity is 655 MW, equal to 17.2% of the maximum load of the entire EVNCPC system.

The shock troops of the units were deployed to support the recovery of the consequences of storm No. 13 in Gia Lai and Dak Lak provinces.

Faced with that situation, this morning, the Corporation mobilized more than 1,300 employees, including local forces and shock forces from Quang Tri, Hue, Da Nang , Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa Power Companies, Khanh Hoa Power Joint Stock Company, Central Power Services Company and Central Power Testing Company Limited. The units brought specialized vehicles, generators, equipment and construction vehicles, ready to respond.

Thanks to the preparation and mobilization plan in advance, EVNCPC's shock teams set out to support Gia Lai and Dak Lak on the morning of November 7. Spare materials were also flexibly mobilized from the Corporation's warehouses and neighboring units to promptly handle damaged areas.

General Director Ngo Tan Cu requested units to prioritize restoring power to hospitals, disaster prevention agencies, government headquarters, water plants and essential loads serving people's lives. At the same time, he directed the Safety Board, Technical Board and Deputy Technical Director to directly go to the scene to inspect and command the repair; closely coordinate with local authorities, military forces and police to ensure the continuity of the line and support construction in the complicated weather conditions.

Along with that, EVNCPC Trade Union visited and encouraged employees and shock forces who were working through the night at the site, supporting the construction force to soon complete the task.

EVNCPC General Director affirmed: "With the motto of quick, safe and effective recovery, EVNCPC aims to restore electricity to the central areas of communes and wards today, and in the next 3 days will basically complete the restoration of power supply to the entire Central Highlands region. In the immediate future, the Corporation will focus on restoring the 110kV and medium voltage grid, gradually restoring power to residential and production customers, contributing to stabilizing people's lives and recovering the economy after the storm".
