Also attending were Lieutenant General Thai Dai Ngoc, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; representatives of agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense , the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; representatives of families and relatives of the 6 martyrs from Hanoi City, Ninh Binh Province and Thanh Hoa Province receiving the results of DNA testing.
At the conference, Colonel, Dr. Nguyen Van Loi, Director of the Military Forensic Institute reported the results of DNA identification of martyrs' remains: From July 11 to July 22, the Military Forensic Institute coordinated with the Department of Meritorious People ( Ministry of Home Affairs ), the Department of Social Policy (General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army) and relevant agencies, localities and units to review and collect information on martyrs' remains and martyrs' families. The Institute coordinated with local authorities and police of Nghe An, Bac Ninh, Hanoi, Hai Phong and Thanh Hoa provinces to collect samples of relatives to serve the DNA data matching process.
After that, the Institute received, preserved samples, managed information; established teams to DNA test the remains and relatives of the martyrs. The results of DNA comparison identified the identities of the following 6 martyrs: Martyr Vu Hong Doanh, Martyr Pham Van Dien, Martyr Nguyen Huy To, Martyr Le Quyet Chien, Martyr Ngo Van Phong and Martyr Le Dong Coi. From the above results, the authorities carried out procedures to hand over to the martyrs' relatives.
Speaking at the conference, Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh expressed his deep gratitude to the heroes, martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers who devoted and sacrificed their lives for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for the happiness of the people; at the same time, he shared the silent sacrifices and irreparable losses of the families and relatives of martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers over the past years.
The identification of the six martyrs is not only a technical result but also a moral commitment, a sacred gesture expressing the gratitude of the Party, State, Army and people towards the martyrs.
Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh emphasized: "When we personally delivered the DNA test results to each family, we felt overwhelmed with emotion after months of anxious waiting. From today, the soldiers of the past are no longer "martyrs". "Unknown identity", but has returned to the loving arms, to be cared for with incense, to rest in the bosom of Mother Earth with full identity and homeland. We would like to bow down to share the difficult and painful years that the families have silently endured. We respectfully pay homage to the resilience and unconditional love of the mothers, wives, fathers, children... who have kept their faith for so many years, waiting for the day of reunion."
Senior Lieutenant General Le Quang Minh acknowledged the active support and coordination of agencies, localities, families and relatives of martyrs in providing information and biological samples, creating conditions for DNA identification work to be carried out smoothly, effectively and humanely.
Promoting the Vietnamese people's moral tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source" and "When eating fruit, remember the person who planted the tree", in the coming time, the Ministry of National Defense will continue to direct strongly, mobilize the maximum intelligence and efforts of the forces; strengthen international cooperation; closely coordinate with localities and relatives of martyrs to speed up the progress and improve the effectiveness of searching, collecting martyrs' remains and DNA identification.
