Abandoning the method of learning that exploits memory and instead stimulating creative thinking, that is the reform of education. In the era of clicking a mouse and finding a lot of information, let the neurons work to find new things.
To do that, while still in school, students must be educated and trained to think independently and practice creativity, instead of learning by rote, imitating, memorizing well and then repeating correctly and being considered good.
This way of learning is good at imitating and parroting, not the intelligence needed for research and invention. Don't encourage our children to follow the way of memorization, later they will at best become professors who only specialize in "reciting and quoting".
Instead of calling students to the board to check their old lessons, let's focus on other ways of learning and inspiring them such as presentations, practice, experiments, and learning products. Since they were students, knowing how to build an outline for a presentation and present their ideas and opinions coherently is a teaching method that helps students not only accumulate but also seek knowledge with a proactive attitude.
So, it is right to stop testing, but the next thing to do is to reduce homework. Reducing the workload for students must start with concrete things like this.
Most students have to study two sessions, take extra classes, and then have a pile of homework to finish every day. That is unscientific and anti-educational.
All new lessons and exercises must be completed during class. Students go home to rest and have fun, not bury their heads in homework until late at night, leaving no energy for class the next day. Studying like that is torture, no improvement is seen, it is like a rubber tree being drained of latex when it is still a sapling.
There are subjects that do not require homework, and those that do require it should be limited, the less the better, so that students can do their homework but not be pressured to the point of "depression" or fear of studying.
Reducing the workload for students also reduces the pressure on teachers, that is educational reform.
