Every race needs a finish line. But for the Fast & Furious series, the producers keep pushing it further, at least in the opinion of Vin Diesel—who hinted at the Fast X world premiere that it's a mindless, action-packed thrill ride. Universal could split the final Fast & Furious into three films.
Vin Diesel continues to play Dom Toretto
Producer and actor Vin Diesel has a unique way of portraying Dom Toretto, turning complex thoughts into short catchphrases. He often squints, smiles, and says something silly like, “I don’t have friends, I have family,” to sound profound.
Fast X has a spoiler. The villain this time is the diabolical Dante, played by Jason Momoa. A flamboyant, ridiculous character, the son of Brazilian crime lord Hernan Reyes, driven to avenge his father by taking down Dom Toretto and his team at all costs. The humor, at times goofy, and eccentric nature of Dante Reyes makes this character more of a laugh than a villain, evil, and ruthless.
Justin Lin (Asian-American) directed five of the previous Fast & Furious films, this time with Fast X, he took on the role of screenwriter, he came up with a clever way to bring the Fast & Furious series back to its climax by resurrecting characters and performing many stunts. With the direction of French director Louis Leterrier – famous for the Transporter series ( The Transporter ), the action scenes are extremely eye-catching.

Louis Leterrier makes Fast X bad in terms of plot but reasonable in terms of action coordination. Characters constantly jump in and out of speeding cars in this movie and countless extremely stimulating fighting and racing scenes.
Fans of the Fast & Furious series can forgive the illogical jumps, the extra shots (like the Pete Davidson cameo) and the gratuitous fights. But most of all, the visual delights outweigh the flaws, making everything enjoyable in a blockbuster that cost up to $340 million to produce.
Most of the time, it's hard to understand why Dom and his team do what they do, except that they're clearly trying not to repeat themselves. Which is ironic, because Fast X opens with a six-minute climactic reshoot of Fast Five , with Jason Momoa thrown into the action. He's blown off a bridge in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, paralyzed for a few seconds, and then spends a decade studying Dom's every move.
Action scene in Fast X
First, Dante drops a giant neutron bomb on the streets of Rome, nearly blowing up the Vatican. There are explosive scenes in Brazil, Portugal, Los Angeles and Antarctica, but it's hard to explain what Dom is motivated by, other than spending most of the film trying to protect and save his 8-year-old son, Brian, played by Leo Abelo Perry.
Obviously Fast X (in theaters nationwide from May 19) still has Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jason Statham, Jason Momoa, Tyrese Gibson... along with countless stars like Charlize Theron, Brie Larson, John Cena, Helen Mirren..., even Gal Gadot in a guest role, but it seems that part 10 is still not heavy enough if the audience wants to see a more "twisted" and dramatic plot.
