At the end of the first round of the SEA V.League, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team had a record of 2 wins and 2 losses. Their last match was a 2-3 loss to Indonesia on the afternoon of July 12. They were the team to complete all 4 matches the earliest.

The chance of the Vietnamese men's volleyball team winning a medal at that time was quite slim. However, in the next match, the Philippines only narrowly won against Cambodia 3-2. This reduced their secondary index, helping the Vietnamese men's volleyball team have more chances of winning a medal.

In the first match on the afternoon of July 13, Thailand easily defeated Cambodia 3-0 to win the championship (3 wins, 1 loss). Cambodia, with a record of all losses, is the team at the bottom of the table. The remaining positions are divided among Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Up to now, Indonesia and the Philippines have both had 2 wins and 1 loss. They will face each other directly at 5pm on July 13.

The winning team will definitely have a better record than the Vietnamese men's volleyball team (3 wins), so they will be in second place and win the silver medal. Meanwhile, the losing team will have the same record (2 wins, 2 losses). At that time, the score factor will be considered.

The Vietnamese men's volleyball team has an advantage with 7 points. Meanwhile, both Indonesia and the Philippines have only 5 points. The losing team in this direct confrontation will only be awarded a maximum of 1 point (in case of losing 2-3), bringing the total points to 6. Therefore, they are definitely ranked below the Vietnamese team and will finish fourth overall.

This means that the Vietnamese men's volleyball team won a bronze medal. This is a consolation for what coach Tran Dinh Tien's team has achieved.

They started off with a poor start, losing 0-3 to the Philippines. Then the team played better and got good results, including a win over Cambodia (3-0), Thailand (3-1) and a loss to Indonesia (2-3).

This result also shows significant progress, as last year they lost all 6 matches of the 2 stages of SEA V.League 2024.

After the bronze medal in stage 1, the whole team will have a few days to rest and prepare for stage 2 starting on July 16 in Indonesia.
