The agricultural tourism model at Suoi Tien Farm is attracting many tourists to Ho Chi Minh City.

Vital factors in the future

The trend of green tourism is not only a movement but is gradually becoming the top choice of tourists. According to Booking.com's Travel and Sustainability Report 2025, 41% of Vietnamese travelers consider reducing plastic waste as the most important action to contribute to sustainable tourism, while 58% want to minimize the use of disposable items on trips. Notably, 62% of Vietnamese people surveyed said they consider sustainability before booking a trip and 90% want to choose more sustainable travel in the next 12 months.

These figures show that awareness of environmental responsibility among the tourist community is increasing. In that context, Ho Chi Minh City is gradually realizing the green tourism development strategy with specific actions: from supporting high-tech agricultural models, promoting OCOP products, building experiential tours associated with education and cultural preservation... to expanding the network of responsible tourism businesses.

Noted at Suoi Tien Farm, a prominent destination in this model has been invested more than 100 billion VND by Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Area, currently owning 31 rare fruit varieties such as Brazilian cherry, French black candy grapes, Indian red pomegranate... All are grown using high technology from Japan and Israel in a modern greenhouse environment.

Ms. Bui Thi To Trinh, Deputy General Director of Suoi Tien Cultural Tourism Area, said that the high-tech agricultural tourism model is showing high efficiency when since the beginning of the year, the unit has welcomed millions of visitors to visit and have fun. The Suoi Tien Ramm model is not only attractive in terms of experience but also has educational value, raising awareness of people, especially the young generation, about green lifestyle, smart consumption and the importance of clean agriculture.

From the success of the Suoi Tien model, Ho Chi Minh City continues to promote the development of green agricultural destinations in suburban areas such as Cu Chi, Hoc Mon, Nha Be... where there is great potential in terms of land, soil and typical products. This is also an opportunity to connect local agricultural products with tourism activities, contributing to increasing economic value,

Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, in recent years, green agricultural tourism has become a strategic direction of Ho Chi Minh City to diversify products and extend the length of stay of tourists. Green agricultural tourism products are not simply sightseeing or relaxation, these tours combine agriculture with education, experience and green consumption... Many green tourism products in Ho Chi Minh City, when widely introduced, have also attracted a large number of domestic tourists, especially young people and families with small children.

Bridge between agriculture and tourism

According to Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, nowadays, developing green agricultural tourism associated with OCOP products not only helps Ho Chi Minh City diversify its products, but also creates a sustainable tourism ecosystem, where tourists, businesses and the community benefit together. In addition, linking OCOP products with tourism is considered an important key for Ho Chi Minh City to effectively exploit the potential of rural areas.

In fact, with the thorough investment and incentive policies from the city government, many typical OCOP products such as Can Gio water coconut honey, Cu Chi pennywort powder, Hoc Mon green bean - taro - matcha flavored coffee... have become unique souvenirs, bearing the local cultural imprint for tourists to Ho Chi Minh City. The OCOP products introduced to tourists are not only beautiful in design and environmentally friendly but also meet food safety standards, suitable for the increasingly high demands of domestic and foreign tourists.

“In 2025, the Department will continue to organize promotional events and fairs to make Ho Chi Minh City OCOP products a highlight in tourists' cultural and culinary exploration journey. The Department is also committed to promoting responsible consumption, supporting local businesses to develop green production and gradually expanding domestic and foreign markets,” said Mr. Hien Hoa.

Similarly, a representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association said that developing agricultural and community tourism products associated with preserving traditional craft villages will contribute to repositioning the city's tourism brand. The Association has also been coordinating with organizations to conduct surveys, build tours and promote OCOP products associated with typical agricultural destinations in the suburbs.

Green tourism is an inevitable trend for sustainable tourism development.

As a business that turns OCOP products into tourism products, Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, General Director of Menas Group, said that at destinations, the unit creates spaces for exchange and connection of typical OCOP products such as agricultural products, handicrafts and regional specialties. These areas are displayed in an eye-catching and easy-to-see manner with a variety of OCOP product designs for tourists to choose from. This is also the way for businesses to introduce OCOP agricultural products to foreign and domestic tourists.
