Vietnamese youth football team causes a sensation.

In just four months, Vietnamese youth football has made a series of big names, finishing third at the AFC U23 Championship and securing a ticket to the 2026 U17 World Cup.

The Vietnam U23 team made a big impact earlier this year by finishing third overall in the Asian tournament.

Following the success of the Vietnam U23 team at the 2026 AFC U23 Championship, where they finished third overall, the Vietnam U17 team made a strong impact by reaching the quarterfinals of the 2026 AFC U17 Championship and officially securing a spot in the U17 World Cup.

In the U23 Asian Championship, coach Kim Sang-sik's team impressed by overcoming a series of strong opponents to advance deep into the tournament. In particular, the victory against U23 South Korea helped the Vietnamese representatives finish the tournament in third place overall.

Meanwhile, the Vietnam U17 team continued its impressive run for the country's youth football. Coach Cristiano Roland's team excellently topped Group C at the 2026 AFC U17 Championship after an emotional 3-2 victory against the UAE U17 team on the morning of May 14th.

Notably, the Vietnam U17 team was drawn into a tough group with South Korea, Yemen, and the UAE. Despite this, the young players displayed great composure to secure first place in the group, becoming the only Southeast Asian representative to advance to the knockout round.

Securing a ticket to the 2026 U17 World Cup in Qatar makes this achievement even more special. This marks the first time in the history of Vietnamese football that Vietnam has participated in the biggest football tournament on the planet for the U17 age group.

The consistent success of the youth teams shows that Vietnam's football youth training program is on the right track. From U23 to U17, the players have improved their technique and demonstrated confidence and the ability to compete with the leading football nations in the continent.

At 0:00 on May 17th, the Vietnam U17 team will face the Australia U17 team in the quarter-finals of the 2026 AFC U17 Championship.
