Britney Spears recently posted a clip of Timberlake when he appeared on Jimmy Fallon's talk show and added: "I want to apologize for some of the things I wrote in my book. If I offended anyone I really care about, I'm so sorry. I also want to say that I love Justin Timberlake's song Selfish . It's so good and why do I laugh so hard every time I see Justin and Jimmy together???".

Britney's post is the latest in a series of attempts by her fans to block her new achievements. Timberlake's first single since his 6-year comeback, however, the song that topped the iTunes Top Songs chart is not his, but Spears' 2011 single of the same name from her album Femme Fatale .
Spears' fans have long been hostile toward Timberlake, whom the Toxic singer dated from 1999 to 2002, especially after the singer portrayed the "victim" in his 2002 single " Cry Me a River. " The feud was also recently reignited with the release of Spears' memoir.

Britney also revealed in her memoir The Woman in Me that she and the former NSYNC member had an abortion while they were dating from 1999 to 2002.
Reflecting on the experience, Spears described it as "one of the most painful things I've ever been through in my life", and asserted that "Justin was definitely not happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren't ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were too young".
"I didn't know if it was the right decision," she wrote in the book. "If it were up to me alone, I would never have done it. But Justin was certain that he didn't want to be a father."
She also added that although she was "quite surprised" by the singer's reaction, "it's not a tragedy" because she believes they will eventually have a family.
After the memoir was released last October, Spears explained that "the purpose of my book was not to offend anyone in any way" and that what I wrote was simply a reflection of my past.

"That's me... that's the past!!! I didn't like the press coverage of the book... That's exactly why I stopped working 4 years ago. Most of the book is from 20 years ago... I've moved on," she wrote on Instagram in a now-deleted post.
Britney also added: "This is really a book that I needed to write…, although some people may feel offended, it has helped me close everything for a better future. Hopefully I can shed light on those who feel especially lonely in most cases, hurt or misunderstood!".
Selfish is the first single from Timberlake's new album Everything I Thought It Was , scheduled to be released on March 15.
