Al Nassr confident of convincing Bruno Fernandes. |
According to A Bola , coach Jorge Jesus, who currently leads Al Nassr, believes that the Manchester United captain would be the perfect fit for the Saudi Pro League club. It was coach Jesus who gave Fernandes his debut at Sporting CP, and has a close relationship with the player's family.
Jorge Jesus was appointed as Al Nassr head coach in June and is planning to rebuild the Saudi Arabian side. The Saudi Pro League giants are pursuing a radical “Portugueseisation” strategy, having previously signed Joao Felix, Jesus’ compatriot.
However, the Bruno Fernandes deal will not be easy for Al Nassr. Manchester United, under the leadership of coach Ruben Amorim, wants to keep Fernandes to compete in the Premier League.
However, Al Nassr, backed by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF), are prepared to pay a large sum to convince him. In June, Fernandes surprised the public by rejecting a £200m deal from Al Hilal.
The Portuguese midfielder revealed that he still wants to continue playing top-level football in Europe: "Al Hilal are very polite. The decision to move there will be easy. I know very well the Portuguese players who are playing in Saudi Arabia. But I want to play at the highest level and compete for big titles. I am very passionate about football."
However, with the persuasion of coach Jorge Jesus and the names currently wearing Al Nassr shirts such as Ronaldo or Felix, the possibility of Fernandes going to Saudi Arabia to play before the 2025 summer transfer window closes is still possible.
