Recently, Dr. Quy directly handled many especially difficult cases related to septic shock, originating from bile duct obstruction due to stones or tumors.

For example, patient D.KT - 68 years old, Ho Chi Minh City, had undergone a liver transplant abroad, with a biliary stent placed. Upon examination at FV, the patient had symptoms of biliary tract infection such as jaundice, itching all over the body, and intermittent chills. Dr. Quy ordered endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) to accurately diagnose the cause, and drain the bile.

The patient was admitted to the hospital to undergo endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). The endoscope was inserted into the mouth, passed through the esophagus, stomach, and then to where the bile duct empties into the duodenum. A catheter was inserted into the endoscope to reach the tip of the tube and then inserted into the duodenal papilla and bile duct to remove the old stent, detecting and removing 6 stones measuring 0.5 - 1cm. Although all the stones were removed, the bile duct was still not clear, so the doctor placed a new stent to drain the bile. The procedure was completed after 1 hour and the patient was discharged after 2 days. After 1 week of follow-up, the patient's itching and jaundice were less, and these symptoms completely disappeared after 2 weeks.

The patient happily said: "I have been to many hospitals and had endoscopy performed by many doctors. But here, the doctor was so careful and gentle that when I woke up, I felt no pain and did not think I had just undergone surgery."
