To date, Van Yen district has 44 products recognized as OCOP products with 3 stars or higher. Of these: 2 products are 4-star, and 42 are 3-star. Three 3-star products have submitted applications to the central level for evaluation to upgrade to 5-star OCOP. OCOP products meet quality and food safety standards and regulations; have diverse and environmentally friendly designs and packaging, and are suitable for market demands.
After being recognized, OCOP products have increased in value, contributing to expanding production scale and revenue for participating businesses. Several large businesses and supermarket chains have prioritized OCOP products for their distribution systems. In particular, cinnamon products have been exported to international markets, and many other products are sold in supermarkets in Hanoi , Quang Ninh, and other locations.
OCOP products from Van Yen district are introduced and sold at fairs both within and outside the province. |
Van Yen has developed effective OCOP value chains with the active role of cooperatives and businesses. Many OCOP products effectively utilize local raw materials and are linked to geographical indications, such as cinnamon products. The Van Yen Cinnamon Cooperative has taken advantage of this "green gold" to develop a specialized industry of purchasing, producing, and trading cinnamon products.
Throughout its development, the cooperative has demonstrated creativity and acumen in creating diverse and unique products that have been well-received by the market. It is a top-performing unit in the province in terms of product quantity, contributing to making Van Yen cinnamon a key product of the OCOP program in Yen Bai province.
Mr. Dang Cong Long, Director of Que Van Yen Cooperative in Mau A town, said: "The cooperative focuses on selecting raw material areas, applying science and technology in essential oil production, and has a system of packaging, labels, and QR codes for product identification…".
Mr. Pham Trung Kien, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Yen District, said: The district's OCOP program has received close guidance from local Party committees and authorities, the political system, and the support of the people. Coordination and coordination among agencies, units, and localities have become increasingly close. With the efforts of the participants, in 2024, Van Yen newly recognized 6 out of 7 OCOP products as 3-star, and re-recognized 6 out of 12 products as 3-star. The district's OCOP products are increasingly diverse in design and packaging, and product quality has improved. Participants have paid more attention to product quality control, brand building, traceability, applying information technology to management, sales, and consumption, and participating in product supply chains.
However, guidance in some communes and towns has not been consistent or proactive in reviewing potential and strong local products; some entities have not fully understood the benefits of participating in the OCOP Program; the trade promotion capabilities of entities are still weak, and they lack product development strategies; linkages and contracts for product consumption are not strong or sustainable; and building the necessary documentation and procedures still faces many difficulties, causing some entities to hesitate and lack the determination to participate in the Program.
The development of OCOP products plays a crucial role in increasing people's income and helping Van Yen district complete its new rural development program. Therefore, in the coming time, the district will continue to mobilize the entire political system, especially the role of commune-level leaders, in strengthening information and communication about the OCOP program; focusing on managing the quality of OCOP products and promoting OCOP product businesses through e-commerce platforms. At the same time, it will continue to encourage OCOP businesses to research and develop more products from local raw materials, both increasing economic value and preserving local cultural identity.
In 2025, the district aims to develop 5 new 3-star OCOP products, upgrade 3 4-star products to 5-star, and re-certify 9 out of 13 3-star OCOP products (4 products did not participate in the re-evaluation). In the future, the district will continue to coordinate with the Department of Industry and Trade and the Department of Agriculture and Environment to help units strengthen trade promotion and connect with consumer markets; focusing on promoting and introducing OCOP products through various means. https://baoyenbai.com.vn/12/349274/Chu-trong-kiem-soat-chat-luong-san-pham-OCOP.aspx |
